FIrst up in the Epstein Design Partners archives:
EDP designed a series of Cleveland Calendars for the International Printing
Corporation. Each calendar featured an artist's work, and one of our favorites was the Internationally known
Viktor Schreckengost.
Schreckengost was a graduate of -and long-time professor at - The Cleveland Institute of Art . We were psyched to come across his beautiful artwork in this printed calendar from the early 1980s.
Viktor Schreckengost's famous "Jazz Bowl" is in the permanent collection at the Cleveland Museum of Art and his magnificent elephant relief sculpture from the Pachyderm Building at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
was relocated to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History
and greets visitors to the University Circle area .
The first images are typographic solutions for the calendar's covers, and the rest are Schreckengost's illustrations of Severance Hall, Little Italy and an arial view of downtown Cleveland.
