In addition to the best quality available, our OCE press offers non-toxic, long-lifespan consumables and uses considerably less energy than competing technologies. In addition to our many green certifications, we've also put into practice the principle of "Lean Manufacturing." This approach to manufacturing is inherently "green", and involves using modern technology and consumables to minimize waste and maximize efficiency. An all-digital, color-managed workflow has eliminated the need for costly & wasteful proofing systems. One of the features that makes Low Knob Press unique is that we use recycled paper exclusively. When you print with us, you don't have to make a special request for recycled paper - it's all that we carry. Our house stocks contain the highest possible percentages of recycled content and sustainably harvested papers, processed without the use of chlorine or chlorine derivatives (bleaching without chlorine or chlorine compounds results in a much less polluting paper making process). Why print green? For starters, the environmental benefits are significant - in 2014 alone, we saved nearly 3,000 trees and nearly three-quarters of a million gallons of water! Rather than using virgin paper and petroleum-based inks, green printers use only recycled paper and soy- and vegetable-based inks, and offset their carbon emissions. Also, green printing can produce the same level of quality as traditional printing, so you don't have to sacrifice quality. Consumers today expect companies and organizations to be environmentally responsible; printing green allows you to take a first step towards sustainability if you're just getting started - and if you're already on the green path, you can more fully demonstrate your commitment to protecting our environment.
