A year ago a “friend” called me about some “life-changing” sandwich spread he found near San Francisco. Said it was a game changer and wanted me to look into selling it.
I asked what was in it… he didn’t even know.
I respectfully told him maybe start with a pop-up or vendor fair and test the market. At the time, I was already spread thin (no pun intended).
Apparently he took that as disrespect, and is still bitter.
Here’s what 10 years in business taught me: boundaries aren’t for other people—they’re for me. Because every “great idea” comes with stress, permits, liability, overhead, and responsibility.
People think small business is easy… even the little hot dog stand has pressure most will never understand.
Not every no is hate. Sometimes it’s wisdom.
