Denny and I are so humbled by being inducted into the Fonda Speedway Hall of Fame! When we were notified we were shocked and I was so happy for my husband.
Denny started going to Fonda Speedway when he was 4 years old with his Grandfather Charlie Townsend, Denny said his grandfather called it the "Big Track"! Denny went from a fan, to a crew member, to a driver and car owner, to a corner and backstretch flagger, to a pace car driver, he even was security a couple times, then he became the head starter and finally the Race Director at Fonda! He has seen the racetrack from all angles, as a fan, a crew member, car owner and driver, to an official! All this time I was along for the ride! I was Denny's biggest fan and cheerleader while he drove his many racecars over the years. I was a scorer for the entire time that Marty Beberwyck was the Race Director and I continued to work alongside Denny, while he was the Race Director of Fonda. I also worked alongside Bryan Davis, those were fun times. Denny was also the Race Director at Utica Rome Speedway and he continues to be a Race Director at Glen Ridge. I believe my husband is so deserving of this induction. He has always been respectful of all drivers and crew members, and officials. Denny has always treated everyone the same, with fairness and consistency! It didn't matter who was driving or who their sponsors were. No favoritism or fighting. Denny always spoke to whoever had questions or complaints with an understanding ear and they always left shaking hands. I want to thank everyone who voted to induct us both into the Fonda Speedway Hall of Fame! We are truly thankful! Congratulations to the other inductees, who we have had the pleasure to meet and either work with or race with! They are also so deserving! We are looking forward to seeing our friends and family members at our induction ceremony on July 6th at 2 PM!
