🎨✨ The South Shore Art Center's 71st annual Arts Festival got off to a spectacular start with its Art Preview Night, bringing together artists, patrons, and supporters for an evening celebrating creativity and community.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of three outstanding teachers whose work has inspired countless students through the years: Esther Maschio, known for her printmaking instruction, Tony Pilla, and Lisa Marder. Their dedication to arts education continues to have a lasting impact throughout the South Shore.

Guests enjoyed signature cocktails, including the "Plein Air" and "Piping Plover," created by Cohasset artist and mixologist Stephen Sheffield, and a welcome video message from Steve Carrell.

The excitement continued with a lively auction led by auctioneer Jim Fagan, featuring incredible experiences and items including an e-bike, a golf outing at Eastward Ho, a Beacon Hill shopping experience, and autographed Oscar winning movie posters.

The evening was a wonderful reminder of the important role the South Shore Art Center plays in fostering creativity, supporting artists, and bringing the community together through the arts.

Congratulations to everyone who made the evening such a success, and see you on the Common for this weekend's 71st Annual Arts Festival.

🎨✨ A colorful new addition has brightened the playground at Osgood School!

Students, families, volunteers, and community partners came together to unveil a beautiful new mural that celebrates creativity, collaboration, and school spirit. Spearheaded by Osgood art teacher Tamara Helveston, the project gave every student the opportunity to contribute their own square, making each child a part of the finished masterpiece.

The idea originated with Cohasset resident Emma Richardson, owner of House of Art in Hingham and mom to Osgood kindergartener Autumn. Seeing the blank wall overlooking the playground, Emma envisioned a vibrant work of art that would bring new life to the space.

“They love it,” Helveston said of the students. “It’s exciting for them to be part of how a mural gets made.”

The project was truly a community effort. Mayo Design of Weymouth assisted with the lettering and signage, while Aubuchon Hardware generously donated the paint. Countless volunteers also helped bring the vision to life.

The result is more than just a mural—it’s a lasting reminder of what can happen when creativity, community, and collaboration come together. As one second grader expressed: “Every time you walk past this wall, we hope it reminds you that you belong here, and you matter,”

Congratulations to everyone involved in creating this beautiful new landmark at Osgood School! 🎨❤️💙➡️ to see full mural pics

What makes Cohasset Village so special? ✨

From the Red Lion Inn to the historic buildings lining South Main Street, Cohasset’s charm is deeply rooted in its history and character. A proposed Historic Village Business District would help preserve the unique architecture and small-town feel that generations of residents have cherished. 💛

The goal is not to stop progress, but to encourage thoughtful growth that respects the beauty and identity of the village. Community members are now discussing what preservation could look like for the future of Cohasset. 🏛️

Some artists capture images. Others capture a perspective. 🎨

Cohasset photographer Dennis Roth’s stunning exhibition, Transformations, Investigations in Months, Decades and Eons, is now on display at the South Shore Conservatory through June. His work highlights the beauty hidden in everyday details, from coastal rocks and tidal pools to vibrant vegetables and natural textures. 📸

After a career in architecture, Dennis returned to photography and has spent years studying the landscapes and natural elements that surround the South Shore. His pieces invite viewers to slow down, look closer, and appreciate the wonder woven into ordinary moments. 🌊

Dennis shared that one of his favorite projects involved photographing the granite formations at Strawberry Point in Scituate, where geology, history, and art all came together in a deeply meaningful way. ✨
