Sometimes stuff doesn’t work out the way you hope it does, and that’s ok, but it’s ok to be sad too.

This job I was SO stoked on when I got the call.

The client wanted ME, a humble but enthusiastic sign painter, to ACTUALLY design the sign, & I even got paid to design it this time 😜.

A classic ghost sign. Sweet & Simple.

The install goes smooth, minus one bump or two,( not the worst ) but then when it comes time to settle up he tell’s me he ain’t got it.

Of course I’m bummed, and BIG salty🧂🧂🧂 cause I’m out the money for a lift, hotel, etc. but then come to learn the client stiffed his whole staff too. Didn’t even make it 3 weeks...bummer.

I hope the staff got paid somehow, and maybe somehow I paid a little karmic debt too.

A while back I took a class with Lynne & Kevin( & ) of Space Type Co. ( ) at Type Electives ( ).

It was such a cool class and I learned so much about p5.js, an open-source Java Script library for creative coding.

It was such a great experience getting to create alongside incredibly talented classmates, and seeing their stellar work was inspiring in so many ways.

I'm hoping to dive further into it and make some more fun stuff...maybe for YOU ;)

The font used here is Nickel Gothic by the legendary DJR ( ) and the sketch inspired by Daniel Shiffman’s Coding Traing ( .coding.train )

I was thinking I should do the Knuckleball next? What do you think?

Hanna Antiques () is such a cool place. & has such exquisite tastes. So I have no clue why he chose me to make these, but how could I say no to his Mid Century Charms!?

I used my plotter to cut a stencil of my design and screen printed with 1-Shot directly onto the aluminum substrate ( thanks for the pro tipz ).

They needed a few touchups on a couple 🫣 but only after I was finished my Pinstriper cosplay.

I hope no-one gets towed, and they're closed Sundays but I won't tell if you won't.

Thomas Sheet Metal is the best HVAC company I know of in Birmingham. They used to make signs a from time to time way back when & when Larry Rocks from Art Sign Co. told me to stop by to see about getting some panels made I was just completely amazed.

Jerry really is an amazing craftsman & a wonderful teacher, and Brett keeps it all running smoothly like his father before him did.

When we were told by another HVAC company that we "needed" a new furnace, so I called Brett and Jerry came over and fixed it in less that 30 minutes and has been running strong for years after.

This truck is probably my favorite sign I've ever painted. Honk if you see Jerry out there and blow em' a kiss for me 🥰
