Feeling nostalgic right now on day one of ... I haven't participated since 2018. Which was also the first year that I actually won. And jeepers was it a grueling 30 days. But so satisfying to have that first draft finished!
50,000 words. Heavens. That's a lot of words.
Good luck to my fellow WriMos who are taking part in the grand November tradition this year! I wish you luck. ☕️ 🍂 📖

Long vollies of wind and of rain
And the rain on the drizzled pane,
And the eve falls chill and murk;
But on yesterday's eve I know
How a horned moon's thorn-like bow
Stabbed rosy thro' gold and thro' glow,
Like a rich barbaric dirk.

Nora Charles : Waiter, will you serve the nuts? I mean, will you serve the guests the nuts?
Nick & Nora Charles, best on-screen couple ever, imho. Have you seen the Thin Man movies? Which is your favorite?
I think if I had to choose, my favorite would be Shadow of the Thin Man. But truly, I love them all!

“A strange melancholy pervades me to which I hesitate to give the grave and beautiful name of sorrow. The idea of sorrow has always appealed to me but now I am almost ashamed of its complete egoism. I have known boredom, regret, and occasionally remorse, but never sorrow. Today it envelops me like a silken web, enervating and soft, and sets me apart from everybody else.” Bonjour Tristesse by Françoise Sagan, 1954
Have you read the book or seen the 1958 film with Jean Seberg?
For me, I preferred the film much more. The cast was sublime, the locations gorgeous, and it all came together beautifully.

Did not remember that Peggy Ann Garner (who played Francie Nolan in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn) played a young Jane Eyre in the 1943 version! Or that Elizabeth Taylor played her friend at boarding school. Course I was like 10 when I saw the film, so maybe that’s why. Lol
Adding this to my watchlist now...
Have you seen the 1943 Jane Eyre? What did you think of it?

Mandy is definitely in my top 10 favorite childhood books. A story about an orphan who discovers a small deserted cottage in the woods. Such a charming, escapist read!
And it’s written by actress Julie Andrews. :)
