One of the hardest truths in marketing: the right message isn't for everyone.

When you try to appeal to everyone, you sound like everyone. And that's exactly where generic AI content comes from.

Being specific means some people will decide you're not for them. That's not failure. That's positioning.

The businesses that stand out are often the ones willing to clearly say who they serve, what they do best, and what they don't.

The wrong customers opting out is often how the right customers opt in.

AI doesn't create clarity. It amplifies it.

If your website, emails, or social posts could belong to any business in your industry, AI will polish them into something that still sounds like everyone else.

Before AI can write like your business, you need to answer three simple questions:

• What problem do you solve?
• Who do you solve it for?
• Why are you the one to solve it?

The real work happens before the prompt. That's where differentiation begins.

06/23/2026

The average problem.

When you haven't decided what makes your business different, AI gives you what most businesses in your space already say. The average promise. The average value. The average everything.

Fine. Polished. Forgettable.

AI amplifies clarity. It also amplifies the lack of it.

The real work is clarity. Not another AI tool.

Google's AI Search is changing how people discover businesses, but it isn't rewriting the rules.

The same fundamentals still matter: clear services, accurate information, and consistent messaging across your website, Google Business Profile, and reviews.

What's changed is that AI has less ability to fill in the blanks.

The businesses that are easiest to understand will be easiest to recommend.

When AI compares businesses, the clearest one often wins.

Clever copy can grab attention, but specific information helps customers and AI understand what makes your business the right fit.

Clear service descriptions.
Clear locations.
Clear reviews.
Clear next steps.

Your goal isn't to sound smarter. It's to be easier to understand.

If you saw the Google announcement and thought, "great, now I have to relearn everything," pause.

The fundamentals of good SEO still drive whether you show up in AI answers. You don't need a new strategy. Google literally said so.

But here's the real shift: vague content gets punished harder now. AI is comparing you to a few other options when it builds an answer, and the clearest business wins, not the cleverest.

What that looks like:

- Service pages that plainly say who it's for, what's included, where you do it, and what to do next
- A Google Business Profile that agrees with your website on hours, services, and contact info
- Recent reviews that mention the specific services and places you want to be known for

If any of those feel vague, that's where to focus this week.

Google Search is starting to behave less like a directory and more like an assistant.

Customers can ask detailed questions about services, locations, reviews, and availability, and Google increasingly tries to provide a direct answer.

That means vague service descriptions, buried location information, and incomplete profiles create bigger problems than they used to.

The businesses that make information easy to understand give Google more confidence to recommend them.

Google's AI Search is changing how people find businesses, but it's not changing what makes businesses visible.

Helpful content, accurate information, and strong SEO fundamentals still matter. What's changing is how much being vague costs you.

AI can't fill in the blanks the way people can. If your website doesn't clearly explain what you do, who you serve, and where you work, Google's AI has less information to include your business in an answer.

Don't start over. Get clearer.

06/16/2026

A person can read between the lines on your website.

AI can't.

When Google's AI is comparing your business to a few other options for someone, it needs specifics. Not vibes.

What to check on your service pages:

- Who is this for, in plain language?
- What's included?
- Where do you do it?
- What's the next step?

If those answers are buried or vague, you have a smaller chance of getting included in AI answers, even when your site looks great to a human.

The clearest business wins, not the cleverest.

Save this and look at your service pages.

LinkedIn isn't just evaluating individual posts anymore. It's connecting your profile, content, and conversations to determine what you stand for.

And increasingly, AI tools are doing the same.

This week, try a quick audit:
• Does your headline reflect your expertise?
• Do your recent posts support your core topics?
• Are your comments adding value in the conversations you want to be known for?

Clarity helps people understand what you do faster. Increasingly, it helps AI understand too.
