We will never forget. Keep sharing.

Today is Ezzy’s birthday. She should be turning 27 years old. Instead of celebrating with her, we are left grieving a life stolen from us so brutally. She was taken from us at the hands of someone who should never have been in this country. The pain of that reality never leaves us. He was here illegally commiting violent crimes. The system let him back out on our streets and within weeks she was gone.

We miss her beyond words. Her story means something. Ezzy’s light deserves to keep shining through change. Through raising awareness. Through protecting others.

If someone you love is experiencing domestic violence, please—don’t ignore the signs, don’t stay silent. Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233. Be the person who steps in. Your voice could be the one that saves a life.

For Ezzy, please keep this candle burning. Say her name. We will fight for serious immigration reform for violent offenders. We will advocate for domestic violence awareness. We will call for bystanders to act. Because she deserved so much more.
