If autumn is basically your whole personality, I think we’re going to get along just fine! 🍂🎃

Pumpkin patches, cozy sweatshirts, crisp mornings, colorful leaves, and pumpkin spice lattes. There’s just something about this season that makes the little things feel extra special. 🤎

And that’s exactly what inspired my little autumn collection!

I took some of my favorite fall illustrations and turned them into cheerful little things you can wear, carry, and enjoy throughout the season.

From pumpkin patch girlies to PSL lovers, there’s a little something for everyone who loves autumn as much as I do.

Because sometimes a smiling pumpkin on your shirt or a cute little truck on your hat is all it takes to brighten an ordinary day. 🥰

Well, hello there! 👋

I figured it was time for a little reintroduction, especially since things have been changing around here!

I’m Dawn, the illustrator behind Rainbowstar Designs. Wife, mom of two teenagers, coffee lover, collector of cute mugs, and someone who gets ridiculously excited about all things autumn. 🍂☕

If you’ve been here for a while, you probably know me from my branding and design days. And while I still love that work (and occasionally take on a custom project!), I’ve been following my heart in a new creative direction.

These days, I’m filling my time with hand-drawn illustrations that find their way onto cozy sweatshirts, cute totes, seasonal wallpapers, and all sorts of little things designed to make you smile.

Because I’ve always believed it’s the little things that make an ordinary day feel a little brighter. 💛

So whether you’ve been here since the beginning or just stumbled across my little corner of Instagram, I’m so glad you’re here!

I made these wallpapers because I love the idea of adding tiny bright spots to ordinary parts of the day. The screen you check a hundred times. The laptop you open for work. The tablet sitting beside your coffee.

And since autumn is my favorite, the first collection is full of cozy fall colors, pumpkins, coffee, gingham, and little hand-drawn details. 🤎

I know, I know…it’s technically still not Autumn yet. But it’s coming! And today in Colorado, the temps dropped into the 60s…yay!

I’ve been spending most of my time lately turning little autumn drawings into a full collection, and this one might be my favorite so far.

So she avoided posting. Overthought everything. And stayed stuck in that cycle of “I should be showing up more…”

But the problem wasn’t her ideas. It was how they were coming to life. They felt too clinical. Too similar to everyone else. And way harder to create than they should have been.

It’s about how everything works together.

I didn’t go to school for design.

I went to school to be an early childhood educator.

Everything I know about branding, Canva, systems — I taught myself.

And for a long time, that made me feel like I had something to prove.

If I was teaching Canva, it had to be perfect.
If I was designing for clients, it had to be original.
If I wanted to be hired, it had to look elevated.

So I tweaked.

And adjusted.

And rebuilt.

And second-guessed.

What I didn’t realize was this:
All that “trying to look legit” was creating decision overload.

Too many fonts.
Too many versions.
Too many options.

No defaults.
And defaults are what make things fast.

When design takes all your energy, you don’t have much left to sell.
That’s the part no one talks about.

Now?

I design faster.
I post faster.
I decide faster.

Not because I learned more.
Because I stopped trying to prove I belonged.
