it’s ella, hi! 👋🏼 let’s catch up…

if you’ve been following me, or worked with me in the last 7 years that I’ve worked as an elopement photographer, you might notice my feed looks a little different. If you’re new here, welcome — let me explain what I’ve been up to over the last year and what is to come 👇🏼

last summer I became very selective with the sessions I booked. I’d transitioned to becoming a full time product designer and photography became side work.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Taking a step back from the photo grind of the last 6 years allowed me to get more creative / experimental with the sessions that I did take, as well as hone in on my own style. I fell in love with film photography — the slow art of it and the rich colors (all of the photos in this post are on 35mm film!)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As I grew to look at photography as art again, I fell in love with a slower, more intentional approach to documenting through a lens. This led me to reworking my edits — more inspired by colors from film and the way light effects the way images feel.

So this weekend I wanted to refresh my feed to something more true to me and where my style is now — color-driven, intentional and film-inspired.

There is nothing more special than waking up before the sun, taking a drive on empty roads, through lush green trees, listening to folky music and drinking coffee in the car with your sister, and arriving to one of your favorite places looking as magical as ever.

That’s how Michael and Belle’s engagement session started.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To say taking these photos was special, would be an understatement. I absolutely stoaked to have Michael part of the family next year, and spending time at Beaver Camp at sunrise (where Mark and I met) was an absolute dream.

These photos are full of so much nostalgia and I’m so thankful Belle asked me to take them!

I cranked my ISO, broke out the flash and got creative with Jackie + Jose with these dreamy photos in the fields on BV.

I met Jackie + Jose on top of a mountain, on the brink of a storm. They read their vows, shed some tears, and exchanged their rings surrounded by stormy Colorado skies. It was beautiful and moody—everything a photographer could want.
Then it started down pouring. And rather than becoming frazzled or upset, Jose and Jackie stood under umbrellas, laughed about how crazy the weather was here in CO, and waited out the storm. 20 minutes later, the clouds moved to reveal the most beautiful golden hour sunset, and we embraced the day with lots of laughter and incredible photos.
I genuinely love all of my couples, but Jackie and Jose fully represent the people I find myself drawn to as a photographer—adventurous, laid back, funny, and authenticity themselves. I’m so thankful they chose me to document this precious day and for the beautiful places I have the privilege of shooting.

Cora & Joe are two of the most joyful, fun-loving, and caring people I have ever met — and everything about their wedding yesterday was a reflection of that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
During the ceremony, there was both an abundance of laughter and tears — as Cora walked down the aisle with her siblings, Cora’s mom officiated the ceremony and the couple repeated their vows.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The day ended with the best dance party and an epic sparkler exit.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can’t get enough of their dreamy photos, filled with all the emotion of the day, and I’ll be reliving it all in the next couple weeks as I edit the rest.
