🚨 IS THIS HOW DEMOCRACY TREATS JOURNALISTS?

Two women journalists allege they were detained and beaten with sticks by Delhi Police while covering an event attended by Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi CM Rekha Gupta.

Police say they were merely “removed for blocking a VVIP route.”

But the questions are unavoidable:

-When did reporting become a crime?
-Does a VVIP route justify alleged physical assault on journalists?
-Who gave the order to use force?
-Where does security protocol end and press intimidation begin?
-If journalists cannot safely report in the presence of the state’s highest officials, who will protect the freedom of the press?

A democracy cannot demand accountability from the media while treating journalists as obstacles.

VVIP security matters. So does the dignity, safety and freedom of the press.
