Website design reflection.

I remember my first major experience designing websites. Now let me tell you, I have tried the coding way and found flipping my numbers around not very helpful. So with this company website redesign I learned and used a website platform (Wix) - (prayerfully and with wisdom and strength of the Lord).

My challenge, along with learning a new program, was to make the website functional, visual and easy to navigate with multiple divisions and specialities.

Now, I am designing a fresh new look for the Interior design department. More info to come…

Determination to Thrive and Grow in Design.

Hello friends and family, welcome to intro and insights. My name is Cheryl Jackson with Cheryl J Design. I have a 20 year print background and, in the last few years, have been learning and growing and learning some more about digital and visual design.

I find it a challenging and exciting place to be,
between two kinds of design. At first, I found the knowledge gap between years of print to digital and visual design too large, but now am determined to focus on what I know, thrive in it and grow from my current knowledge base.

So, here I am, designing in print and learning
how to and what I can make visual. Lots to learn and experience. Now let’s begin!

Let Your Light Shine

Real moment: for the longest time, most of my life, I have struggled with my identity. And loving myself and letting others see who I am without fear of rejection. But God and His love and mercy and constant Presence is restoring my
peace and the struggle is less.

Easter redemption: I am so thankful that I am forgiven and freed from my sins and loved unconditionally because of Christ’s life, death and as we celebrate today, resurrection. And now I am learning to rely on God and have the freedom to let His light in me shine and to be who I truly am inside.

And now today: I prayerfully go through each day asking
Him how best to design and share and show the many creative ideas that want to burst forth. And He gives me the wisdom, strength and direction in my creative and design endeavors.

Workspace in Seafoam

If you take a glance at my workspace, you may be surprised to not only see a desk and laptop for designing, but many, many, many shelves of fabrics, tile samples, wall covering sample, ribbons and more. All just waiting for me to make something unusual and interesting (love crafting as well). Since my space is quite in progress, I will just give you a quick peek of my favorite color palette - Seafoam green. 🙂

Design inspiration - the great outdoors.

I am a big fan of shooting my own stock photography, if possible. And am also a big fan of bridges and pathways.

I have recently been working with a ministry / counseling client and have been selecting these types of photos from my photo stockpile to depict life and journey and peace.

Oh and I just love the great outdoors to breathe in fresh air and clear the cobwebs to start the creative juices flowing. 😃📷

Problem solving and interaction…

I sometimes call myself the “MacGyver” (one of my favorite 80s shows BTW) of design. Taking what is around me and the knowledge I knew, or could learn, to create or solve a challenge when there is a lack of resources.

This brochure is a good example of that. I was presented with a photo selection challenge so I designed and created an interactive brochure to be used on an iPad or iPhone that allowed me to click on the photo icon TOC on the left to view the photos large, with title and location of each photo on the right. This interactive tool made the selection process go a lot more efficiently and I had a fun time learning something new in the process!!

A look back at a couple of beautiful designs.

I have recently started evaluating my design career as a whole and through this blast from the past, a couple special pieces popped out to me.

Even though this brochure and postcard package designed for the women’s ministry of the Eat Thou Honey Ladies Conference was designed a few years ago, its beauty is timeless.

I learned a lot while designing this package and enjoyed using layers and effects in Photoshop to create visually pleasing pieces.

Give me a shout out if you have a ministry that needs a touch of beauty.

Hello friends and family, welcome to the first intro and insights, design style for Cheryl J Design. I am Cheryl Jackson, designer and owner of Cheryl J Design.

A little about me, I am a graphic designer with experience going on over 22 years. Ranging from print to now digital design, including branding, websites, social media, interactive brochures and more. I am a highly creative, God, hubby and dog loving person, and enjoy putting the pieces and parts of design together to create something new or different. I gather my insight from all that I see and experience - from antique stores to designs I research online and more. And I tend to use lots of charts when organizing and keeping the details straight (of course they have to be colorful!) LOL!

A little about Cheryl J Design. So, you may have seen me on IG and FB as , which is my art & photo therapy, side business, creative crazy side, but there has always been my organized, more structured design side that I have decided now to share with you. On this page, you will not only see designs I have completed, but will also see behind the scenes of designs I am working on and will be completing in the future. Oh, and there will also be some encouragement (because we all need it) and a bit of fun!

My goal for all future opportunities is to focus on designing for churches, ministries and helping some businesses start up or move forward. Each opportunity will be carefully prayed for before, during and after each project.
