What the heck is LCP and why should you care? With Google Rankings set to change May 2021, it's important to understand their new metrics so you can outrank your competition.⠀

So, let's talk about LCP ("Largest Contentful Paint"). LCP, in a nutshell, is the main image or piece of content that loads when someone first lands on your webpage. Specifically the largest image, video, or block of info on the screen.⠀

Google wants our sites to "get to the beans" as quickly as possible. Visitors need to know quickly if they've landed on the right page-- and a page loading or simple title quickly popping up isn't going to cut it. Previously common "optimization" methods had the images load last to improve the perceived load-time, which is now no longer a good idea for the main content.⠀
