The document had to be ready for distribution to Congressional personnel on a specific date. My client, the Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute (PHI) based in New York City and Washington DC, asked me to receive content from individuals throughout the country, organize, edit, write introductions, secure photography, supervise design and layout, and be able to send to the printer in 10 working days. I wasn’t pleased with the cover photo that the client insisted we use — but other than that it was completed on time, looked great, and did its job in raising awareness about the lack of minimum wage and overtime protection for home care workers during an important hearing concerning the reauthorization of the Fair Labor Standards Act in 2016.

“I remember that day, My childhood in Germany, coming to the United States, and what came next.” This is 75- page ghost-written “book” about the life of Ruth Mayer Moses. I was asked by a client to meet with his mother (Ruth Mayer Moses) interview her once a week over several months, and write her story about growing up in Germany during the rise of Na**sm and then coming to the United States in 1937 to live with an uncle in Oklahoma City. The book was presented to Ruth at a large family event held for her 90th birthday. “I remember…” became a very useful tool —for me and for her family — as Ruth advanced into her 90s and slipped increasingly into age-related dementia. In the final months of her life, I would just read to her from this book, and appreciate the occasional nods or sparks of light in her eye, as some passage seemed to click through the haze. This was a great writing project on so many levels.

Helped to transition existing sales materials, data sheets, and technical documents — for a US-based manufacturer of gates, valves, actuation equipment, and other products for flow control industry — through a series of corporate mergers/acquisitions over a five-year period. Initially, my long-term relationship with Rodney Hunt Company enabled me to work effectively with the new owner (Rexnord) based in Milwaukee, WI, the lead marketing company (VAG) in Manheim, Germany, and my US-based clients (Rodney Hunt Company, Fontaine Industries, and GA Industries) based in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, to get a lot done in a very short amount of time. We started in early June. All key pieces of sales literature (several product brochures, data sheets, case studies, and other technical documents) were printed and delivered in time for WEFTEC (a large water industry trade show) in late September. This case study, which was one of over 15 separate pieces of literature, was originally written in 2010 for Rodney Hunt Company. My relationship continues today, with literature support for a range of valve products branded VAG GA Industries, and with operations near Pittsburgh, PA. See VAG USA https://lnkd.in/e5C9_uw
