It’s been good, but it’s a learning curve 😂

Honestly, God has already surprised me with so many opportunities for current and future projects. I have already had the joy to create with several churches and business in the last month!

Managing yourself is just a funny thing, so these are my honest thoughts. How do you deal with these challenges?

We love you The Wiggles 🎈

Some how The Wiggles are a few years older than me and still going strong! There are tons of reasons people love them, but their brand equity is just so strong. They have bold colors, a fun name, and memorable music.

At this point my grandkids will listen to the 4th or 5th generation of The Wiggles and I won’t be surprised at all. Let it be a lesson in how branding can be fun.

A lot of people would claim Fall as their favorite season, yet it’s a flash in the pan. These cool days with leaves changing colors only last so long because it is actually a process of death. Death isn’t a state of being, it is an occasion and it is final.

But these acorns and seeds that the trees drop, lead to new life. And these branches will eventually sprout new green leaves. I think we like Fall because it reminds us of the passing of time. And with time, all things are made new in Him.

Your church Instagram can grow! 📈

I have spent a decade contributing to church social media and over the last few years we saw our page nearly triple in followers. But this doesn’t happen overnight. It takes thorough systems, dedicated creators, and a vision for who you want to reach.

If you need help with your church’s social media, dm me!

It’s the end of an era for me 😭

Over the last decade I have dabbled in freelance work and going into 2026 I really felt God challenging me to take it seriously. So I made this page, I made an LLC and I just put myself out there. He opened some doors I would have never expected and so yesterday was my last day on staff of The Refuge Church 😢

I am so thankful for a decade of learning there and the leadership I got to serve under. I look forward to serving the staff I helped build.

With that being said, I’m diving into all things graphic design and social media. Think of me as a Freelance Creative Director, so if you have a need, DM me or check out my website!

For even more of my church comms/creative related work go follow The Church Co to see what we are up to. I am stoked to be creating content with the team!

How would you brand my business? ✏️

For clarity I am mostly referencing my own brand design which will be seen on my website, in print (business cards and such) and for saying out loud.

I plan to keep my handle and url as is, since the profile is more or less a personal brand and the url is shorter anyway. But I wouldn’t mind adding a DBA to my LLC. The simplest option is to add a descriptor as subtext in the logo.

Businesses are posting flyers like it’s 1999 📌

AI generators don’t understand how to create a hierarchy. If every item on the design is fighting for the spotlight, nothing is important.

If you need help with a graphic, hire a designer who cares about your brand. AI generators don’t care if every graphic they generate looks the same.

Most of my designs get shown on a screen, but the ones that make it to print bring me joy 🤩

I recently had the chance to work on some merch for Joe Phillips Ministries and I was able to take a few photos of the results!

Also I am giving this multi caption thing a go - swipe for more

The logo had a vectorized image of the trailer and truck used for the ministry. I redrew it in Fresco to give a clean look for print.

We knew the camo blank was a key element, so we went with both white and orange as the print colors.

We also had two different blue hats stitched with the second design that was focused on the challenge to “be somebody.”

On the front we used the acronym of JPM (Joe Phillips Ministries) and mimicked it with what what the ministry does: Jesus, Productions, Messages.

I love how the stitching on the hat turned out. In many ways, the blank is equally as important as the print. People have to want to wear it.

If you are in a rut of making things for screens: print out your next design or slap that drawing on a sweatshirt. Graphic designers may use a digital tool to make the art, but the printing brings it to the physical.

Oh and if you need help with your merch, send me a message. 🫡
