I'm a mom of three. We ranch between Shelby and Conrad MT.

I stay busy, burning the midnight oil taking care of ranch books, the house, my web/photography clients .....and so many other things...!

I got to thinking..... I don't think I've shared anything from my new page to my old page. Here we go. 😊

I got to thinking..... I don't think I've shared anything from my new page to my old page. Here we go. 😊

It’s hard staring at a blank page wondering what to say. I’m better at being in the background, running things behind the scenes. Lucky for me, I’ve been doing that long enough that when I handed my seven year old my camera and said to take a picture, he knew what to do!

Some random things about me….

My husband and I have three kids, ages 8 (birthday on Tuesday!), 5 and 2

I’ve always been a night owl. That tends to be when I am able to get my work done… after everybody else is asleep.

4-H was a big part of my life growing up. I enjoyed my breeding beef and market beef projects the most.

I have always loved music and am proud to say that I have successfully introduced GOOD music into my kids’ life. Some of their favorite songs are “Sink the Bismarck”, “Big Boy Toys”, and “I Love Rock ‘N Roll”. 😆

I wear many hats here on the ranch, ranging from office manager and cattle record keeper to hay baler and night calver. But I draw the line at Wheel Line. 😆 I refuse to learn that one – I’ve seen that job, and I don’t want that job. Lol. My husband has job security in that one.

I love a good game of pool. I think. It’s been so long since I’ve played, because you know... kids! Haha – But I do remember enjoying it. And I can’t wait for the kids to want to learn how too, someday.

Beings that we farm and ranch, that means we rarely take vacations. But it’s never bothered me all that much. I enjoy where we live and that we get to raise our kids here. And the livestock and cats. Lol. I’ve had a love for kitties since I was a kid and I guess I never outgrew that. I’ve been raising Manx kittens for several years now and it’s been a lot of fun. A lot of work too! But still, a lot of fun.

My mom used to be the picture taker. She would want to take pictures so often (which probably wasn’t THAT much), we would grumble when she’d pull out her camera. Then I went to college, and nobody took pictures. (This was pre-cell phone camera era. 😉 ) Somewhere in there I realized… I had been living in Havre for several years, and only had a handful of decent photos to remember things by. I started taking pictures. And have never stopped.

And my mom was right. Even though people grumble about having their picture taken, everyone wants to SEE the developed pictures when they’re ready. I guess that’s something I keep in mind a lot of times.

And, being a MOM, we eventually also learn… that if you want someone to take YOUR picture – Hand Em The Camera and tell them to Do It. 😄 So that’s what’s going on here. My kid had pretty good aim. Next we’ll see about that pool game.

Class Photo orders are complete!
The prints shipped and arrived on time. I got them all sorted and stuffed in envelopes yesterday, and dropped off at the school this morning. 👍😊 Now the true test begins..... Will the photos make it home, uncrumpled in the backpacks...? 😂 (True story. I don't know if it's a boy thing or a 1st grader thing, but I do know this struggle is real. haha!)

THANK YOU everyone who ordered photos! I appreciate you all and hope you are as happy as I am, to have a class photo for your kid. 😊

(And, If you missed out on this order and would still like to place one - no problem. Jump over to my website for the Gallery link.)

Did you all know I raise Manx Kittens? 😁 I sure do.

This was an arm out the window with my cell phone kind of photo 😄 but I couldn't help but get a quick snap shot. This was taken about mid-April. I travel this backstreet out of town quite a bit and this view was so stunning. It's been so nice to catch a few of these spring showers this year.

I just can’t help it, I have to share this one on Facebook. It’s kind of funny when I stop and think of how the whole entire school got to have class photos done this year, all because of one first grader. 😂 The first grader happens to have a mom who likes to takes pictures. 😜

I had asked my son on multiple occasions if they had ever done a class photo. Best I could tell was that no, they hadn’t. Well, honestly, that was more than just “a bummer” for me… Because, for a reason I still don’t understand, Hayden never got a copy of his preschool class picture. I know they took one. I remember getting him all dressed up for it. But I never had the opportunity to buy a copy. (He went to preschool in Conrad. And, a bunch of the kids in his preschool class had been daycare buddies for years!)

So anyway, here’s my story of how this all fell together…..

For the past couple years I’ve offered to take pictures at my daughter’s preschool. The first year I did just a big group photo of her morning class, and the other afternoon class too! I printed everybody pictures and gave them away. 😂 This year, things fell into place for me to take pictures at BOTH her preschools! So, two preschools, two classes at each school! AND, individual photos for each preschooler! What fun!! It was great. In the midst of getting those ready, I couldn’t help but wonder again… Where is Hayden’s class photo for the year or was one even taken? I’ve been wondering all year who’s in his 1st grade class. 😂 I mean, he talks about the other kids and all, but I only know who a few of them are.

So guess what. I reached out to Hayden’s teacher. I asked what she thought about me showing up with my camera to take a quick picture for Hayden’s class! Well she clearly liked the idea, because next thing I knew, I was informed I’d be getting a call from the principal. 😂 haha. Boy was I ever in trouble!! Lol. In a very good way. 😊

I’m pretty sure I did everything completely backwards or different from what other school photographers have done in the past. But I did it my way. I made it work the best way I could figure. And I think these photos all turned out really cool.

I get to be non-traditional. We took a serious posed photo for each class, but then we did some silly ones too. I love watching how the kids just light up when you tell them they get to relax and make silly faces. All the way from Kindergarten to the big kids. They all had fun. Some of the smiles and laughter in the pictures … well, it just makes it all so worth it. ❤️ You can tell that the teachers really have a special bond with their students, too. I love how not a single one of the teachers hesitated to make silly faces when I announced that’s what we’re doing now. Ha! They jumped right in and led the crazy. 🤪

This was a very fun project and experience, for sure. I was happy to be able to do it! And after all the late nights and running on very little sleep to get this gallery delivered in one week – I find myself staring at this photo…. And my kid… and thinking… Wow. I did it! Hahaha. 😄 I got my kid his class picture. 🙌😆

I had to take 16 other class photos to do it, but by golly I did it!!! LoL 😂😂😂

Ok, I’m totally just cracking up at myself here… But in all seriousness – I couldn’t have done it without his teacher taking the time to read my email about my offer to take a photo, look over my preschool photos, and decide to tell the principal. 😂 And then for the principal to reach out to me, asking if I’d be interested in doing photos for all elementary school classes - Awesome!

A huge bonus was her being so receptive to the idea of using my photo gallery website, for families to order prints online. This all fell together very quickly. In a matter of a few days, we had a plan and a date, and we were getting it done. 👍

A big thanks to Jeanne Widhalm too! She was a huge help in bringing classes to the gym, helping get everyone setup, and keeping me organized.

Anyway, just wanted to write a little something here… I’m pretty proud of how the photos turned out. And, hope other families like ours, are glad to have a class photo for their kid!

This was a fun project. Class photos! The elementary school didn't take class photos in the fall... so I was happy to be able to offer this for all the classes this spring! I think they turned out pretty darn good. I love that I get to be less "traditional" ... and can take the silly photos after we get a good posed photo. The kids' faces light up and it's so fun to see what they come up with. 😂 I hope all the families are happy to finally be able to get a class picture for their kiddos! I know I am!

This is also fun, to be ABLE to offer the variety of photos to families, via my PixieSet Photography website. Parents can choose between the nice formal posed photo, and/or the silly ones!

Everybody is welcome to view this gallery! I have it set that you have to enter your email when you enter, but as soon as you do that, you can view the entire gallery of class photos!

Enjoy!

I recently had the opportunity to take class photos at both of my daughter's preschools. I had taken group photos last year and this year one of the preschool teachers asked if I could do individual photos too! We took photos inside the classroom at one preschool, and outside at the other. The kids all did great and the pictures turned out super cute. ❤️ I think my own daughter gave me the most struggles. 😂 But despite her silly faces and stubborness, I managed to get some good ones. 😆 It was a fun thing to be able to do. And, since this is preschool and small classes.... I could get creative and take multiple shots. I ended up doing quite a bit of sorting and editing, but I hope the parents thought it was fun to have several different options to choose from when ordering prints!
