Some of you may have noticed that I haven’t been at HubXpress lately. Many of you may not know why.
Our family recently experienced the unimaginable loss of our son, Kevin Walter Sy. He was young, happy and healthy. At 34, he left us in shock and we are faced with the challenge of coping with the emotional and physical impact of grief. 💔
My husband Joe and I traveled to the Philippines to lay Kevin to rest and to be together as a family.
His loss has affected all of us deeply — his siblings, grandparents, aunties and uncles, and so many people who loved him. We are grieving together, supporting one another, and trying to find our way through something none of us were prepared for.
I had hoped I would be able to return to everything quickly. But I am learning that grief doesn’t work according to a schedule. I thought I was strong. I never thought that it would be possible for me to cry everyday for the past 3 weeks with no end in sight.
So I want to humbly ask for your understanding of my absence, and my continued absence from HubXpress. Right now, being here for one another is something our family needs.
Many of you in our HubXpress community never had the chance to know Kevin Walter Sy.
So please indulge me if I share two short songs I wrote for my son.
❤️ Song 1: One of a Kind

❤️ Song 2: I Wish I Could Have You Forever

During Kevin’s eulogy, I shared these songs with our family and friends. Through them, I shared a little about my son — who he was, the way he loved, the way he quietly cared for people, and some of the things I came to understand about him even more deeply after losing him.
Kevin had a way of remembering people and making them feel that they mattered. Even as an adult, he would go back and visit teachers who had once been part of his life, not because he needed anything from them, but simply because he remembered them and cared. On one of his birthdays, he chose to celebrate them to thank them. Many people came forward and told us how Kevin touched their lives.
I would like to share those same pieces of my heart with you.
Not because I expect you to grieve with us, but because for the past 3 years, you have allowed HubXpress and our family to be part of this community.
Perhaps through these few minutes, you can know a little bit about the son we love and the beautiful heart we are grieving.
And to those in our community who have also lost someone you love — a child, a spouse, a parent, a sibling, a friend or another family member — I understand your pain in a way I wish I never had to.
I know now how deeply the loss of one person can hurt so many people who love them.
If you are carrying this kind of grief too, perhaps parts of these songs will feel familiar to you. Maybe you will hear some of your own love, your own memories, and even some of your own grief in them.
My heart is with you. ❤️ And I hope you have found a way to lessen the pain.

Joe and I also need to say thank you.
While our family has been grieving, life back home has continued — and so has HubXpress.
Our team has continued opening our doors and taking care of our customers while we have been away. We cannot adequately express how grateful we are to them. We are immensely blessed to have them - genuinely caring for us like family, HubXpress and our community the way they do!
And to our customers and our Coolidge, Florence, Eloy, Casa Grande and surrounding communities: thank you for continuing to support HubXpress.
Thank you for your patience.
Thank you for your prayers and messages.
Thank you to those who have checked on us.
Thank you for the offers of help.
Thank you for continuing to walk through our doors.
And thank you for giving our family grace while we take the time we need.
HubXpress is a small family business. Your continued support truly matters to us.
Some people have kindly asked if there is a practical way they can support us while I remain away.
The best way to support HubXpress is simply to continue supporting HubXpress.
So for anyone who would like to purchase ahead for services you know you’ll use later, we have made $25 HubXpress Prepaid Vouchers available.

Every order matters.

During one of the hardest seasons our family has ever experienced, the kindness we have received has reminded us what it means to have people stand beside you.
We will never forget that.
From our entire family and everyone at HubXpress,
Thank you. Truly. ❤️
