Continuing to make right on these archived logo concepts. What you're seeing is an early sketch, done even before I fired up any design software. This one was sent out back in June 2019, #4.4 of 9. It’s rough, no doubt, but it set the stage for the final design in the next image.

I often talk with clients about the value of “letting things simmer.” This was one of those moments when I stepped back and saw the three elements in this mark: the letter M, the pill, and the stethoscope. Taking a break and returning with fresh eyes can completely shift your perspective on a design. Logos, after all, are one of the most critical investments a company can make.

RIP little logo sketch... you may not have made the cut, but you paved the way for something bigger. You are not forgotten and your sacrifice wasn’t in vain.

Morning facebook family! I am catching up on a few loose ends with my freelance. Today, I am hitting the Opulent A’Mour logo with some color love which is my favorite part.

If you missed the concepts a toned-down design brief is to create a logo for Opulent A’Mour which offers short-term luxury living for extended stays. Normally, it would be for professionals, traveling nurses or doctors who would need a stay for 13 weeks or longer.

These colors are not set in stone yet and I am looking for everyone's help!

Which color combo do you like and why?

What I have learned over the years is that it’s ok to be uncomfortable or nervous in new situations.

These feelings mean we are getting out of our comfort zone, growing, and learning. The more comfortable we get with being uncomfortable, the more the world opens up.

My ask of you is trying something once. You never know what doors this new hobby will open.

I love helping individuals and small businesses brand themselves. Both through visual and verbal communication I get the opportunity to tell their story. The many skillsets have been learned to help identify who they are, establish brand affinity and meet specific targets locally and on a national level.

Here are 10 reasons why I love what I do as a creative:

#1 Creative confidence is a must. I am introverted at heart but when it comes to objectively explaining why I created something... I will discuss it. Whether it is one on one or in front of an audience. These talks in collaborative environments and constructive criticisms are a great learning experience. Once I get out of my shell I tell to connect with like-minded people.

#2 This skill set challenges me to critically think. I spend quite a bit of time outlining plans, executing projects and researching everything in-between. It makes working individually a must sometimes. I love to be in my own world sketching or learning a new tool I can use to help what I do.

#3 I combine art, psychology and technology to communicate ideas. By using a variety of design elements and tools to achieve artistic or effects on someone feelings. These all can and will interpret in their own way. Artsy yes, but what I do is more technical than anything. There is a ton of psychology and theories behind marketing and design. Furthermore, there are many technical rules in marketing too. If one step is missed you will receive something back not up to par with the solution you are trying to achieve.

#4 Solving problems is my forte. Graphic design can be the ultimate brainteaser. Choosing the right fonts, colors, and lines to create a balanced composition, while simultaneously conveying meaning. It is like a puzzle that has endless ways to be solved. It can be super complicated. In order to succeed you will need to love a good challenge to find a solution.

#5 I wear all the hats. From designing to strategizing, I do it all. I am always growing and learning to bring new techniques to my partners. On the other hand, I also have to do all the work involved with owning a small business such as marketing myself to taxes and logistics. One must be able to pivot and multitask.

#6 I offer my potential partners different options so they can choose a project with all the bells and whistles they want. As I build the proposal, I get to know the people behind the products. I have learned from experience there are numerous places people have come from. I make custom menu items to what needs to be accomplished.

#7 My projects are always changing. From designing full websites to creating Search Engine Optimized content for a small business, it all varies. I have created vehicle wraps and billboards. From small projects to large marking campaigns. A new day equals a new problem I need to solve through graphics, interfaces or communication.

#8 I can create something from nothing. Like an artist, I create. It is done through words, sounds, videos, pictures, ideas, written work and concepts and so much more. I am wired in such a way to create something new and different from what I take away from a conversation or a project brief. It all is pushed through the people, product and process approach.

#9 Hearing stories connects my future. Ever since I was a kid, I loved hearing and telling stories. From the earliest memories, I can recall my father telling me stories about WWII. Also, comic books were a big part of my early years. This works hand-in-hand with listening to a brand's story. I must retell that story through writing, producing graphics, website content, emails, landing pages, print articles or anything else. Storytelling carries a brand to new levels.

#10 Technology is one of the hardest components of what I do, yet one of the most rewarding. Information technology has changed so much over the years and it has also spread through everything designers do from design to content creation, metrics and distribution. I love it, and continue to enjoy the journey of learning more about how it is making the future in marketing more effective, measurable, creative, diverse in distribution and dare I say frustrating too.

Sub-marks! Sometimes referred as a logo alternative or if you are more inclined to follow the Egyptian’s a pictograph. A sub-mark is a similar design to your logo. It is simplified, condensed or uses a different layout. If someone sees it they should still be able to recall it ask part of your brand.

The purpose of a sub-mark is to allow your brand to be consistent while giving it versatility. Numerous situations call for a sub-mark, for example, your website favicon or profile icon, branding stickers, or your email signature. It could be used in any situation so it is important.

Your sub-mark is another key element to strengthen your identity. It is recognizable to your main logo, using the same font and same colors. Sometimes using your initials as apposed to your full name can be done as I did. But, the goal of your sub-mark is to keep the theme and message like your logo.

In closing, Your sub-mark confirms the message that you logo is telling you.

Keep up the good work business owners and designers!

New Logo Concept: My client started a new business named Opulent A’Mour. They offer short-term leasing in luxury living. It is sort of like AirBnB but they want to attract customers who want to stay a little longer than a few nights. For example, travel nurses or business professionals usually need a place for 13 weeks. Some words she used to describe what she was looking for were: Luxury, Lavish, Elegant, Lush, Unique.

Here are a few concepts for the direction I would like the logo to take. These are preliminary sketches which are very rough. They will take shape with time.

Which one concept do you like and why?

3 Benefits of Using Brochures as a Marketing Tool in Your Business

#1 One of the most important benefits of using brochures in your marketing is the ability to include a substantial amount of text, images, and product information in one document. Don't go crazy and keep it simple. You can give tips or answer questions. Make sure the experience there and the brochure will not be thrown away.

#2 Tri-fold brochures are easily folded into three sections. As long as the typography is laid out correctly. It also breaks up the information nicely into 3rds. It allows you to provide enough information while at the same time giving your customers an easy piece to take away and keep.

#3 Brochures give your potential customers a tangible experience with your company. They offer something to your customers that online ads and social media posts cannot provide which is tangibility. Brochures are something your prospects and clients can see and feel, which allows them to form a real connection with your company.

Bonus: A brochure may be the first impression of your business. Make sure to give potential customers an incentive to contact you for your services. A discount code or coupon should be added. And do not forget all of your contact information.

What is the Heck is Color Theory?

Color theory is a group of rules, guidelines and more which graphic designers use to communicate to viewers through color schemes. These are all theories because we all see different colors as well as different societies associate subjects with different colors.

To pick the best colors every time, designers use a color wheel or Pantone swatch guide. We refer to extensive collected knowledge about human optical ability, psychology, culture and more when picking colors for our clients.

Next time, you ask a designer you would the color of the ocean keep in mind there are thousands of colors.
