The best partnerships aren’t about doing the same things.

They’re about combining different strengths, trusting each other’s abilities, and working toward a shared goal.

When each person brings something unique to the table, great things can happen.

Is your 10% marketing cost ACTUALLY good?

Jon Graboyes spends 18-20% on marketing because he’s in “Growth Mode.”

But also, he makes MORE profit than most contractors spending 10%.

Wait... how?

Most contractors look at marketing as a percentage of revenue.

Jon looks at something completely different.

He runs every marketing decision through a tool that shows him the incremental margin dollars he'll get back.

Put in $10K. Get $20K back.

Like a vending machine.

But what's the calculation he's using?

What metric makes his 18% spend more profitable than your 10%?

The strongest business partnerships start with a shared vision.

Talk about the life you want, the income you want, and what success actually looks like together.

Once both people are aligned, building the business becomes much easier.

This week, The Wealthy Contractor team is at RevX 2026 for a couple of reasons.

First, Brian Kaskavalciyan took the stage yesterday to talk about something we believe every contractor should be focused on: building a business that gives you more freedom, not just more responsibility.

We're also here to celebrate Dave Yoho. Long before coaching programs, masterminds, and sales trainers became common in our industry, Dave was teaching contractors how to sell, lead, and build businesses that stand the test of time. His impact on the home improvement industry is impossible to overstate.

It's been great reconnecting with clients, friends, and fellow contractors while honoring a man whose influence can still be seen in so many of the successful companies in this industry today.

A lot of husband and wife businesses struggle because both people are pulling in different directions.

Everything changes when roles, responsibilities, and expectations become clear.

Focus creates results, and clarity creates focus.

What does your ideal business actually look like?

Most business owners cannot answer that clearly.

If you do not know what you want from the business, it becomes almost impossible to build something that truly works for your life.

Are you sure your sales team can actually hit your revenue goal? 🤔

So you probably track their KPIs:

- Close rate
- Average ticket
- Demos run

Jon Graboyes tracks those too.

But then he does something most contractors never do…

He forecasts his ENTIRE company revenue based on each individual rep's expected performance.

❌ Not team averages
❌ Not company-wide goals

Rep by rep. Month by month.

When marketing fell short on appointments last quarter, Jon's forecast showed him which specific salesperson was already performing high enough, and which dials to adjust in their plan to keep both growth AND gross profit on track.

The plan didn't blow up because Jon wasn't guessing.

But how do you build a forecast around individual reps?

What do you track that makes this actually work?

Jon reveals the forecasting system behind 56% growth and $10M in sales here:

When a business constantly relies on debt, it is often a sign the numbers are broken.

Understanding margins, overhead, and marketing costs changes everything.

Profitable businesses are built on strong systems, not constant borrowing.

A smaller business with strong profit can build real financial freedom faster than a larger business making little money.

High revenue without profit creates stress, risk, and complexity.

Profit matters more than looking big.

Ask a contractor about their profit and loss statement and you will quickly see how they run their business.

Owners who know their margins, overhead, marketing, and profit numbers usually have control of the company.

The ones who do not often struggle financially.
