One of our own stepped out and stepped up to a new position as the Director of Marketing. Sydney deserves everything that comes her way and is going to crush it at Lumber King. Congrats Sydney and know that we’re always here!!

Sydney Holcombe Named New Marketing Director of Lumber King

Sydney Holcombe, formerly the Digital Strategy Consultant for The Holler Creative, a digital marketing agency based out of Corbin, KY, is joining Lumber King in early August. She will be taking on the inaugural role of Marketing Director, connecting the dots for the company online and aiding in building advertising strategies at corporate and individual store levels to accomplish company goals and drive business forward.

Sydney possesses four years of combined professional experience and expertise in a plethora of marketing tactics. In her prior position as Digital Strategy Consultant, she worked with business owners to learn their history, where they want to be as a business, and introduced them to The Holler’s solutions to create a process to get them where they want to be, focusing on developing genuine relationships with clients in the process. Sydney is “very excited to join Lumber King in this new position”, saying that “its reputation for excellence, a competitive spirit, and dedication to service through quality products and caring staff” are what initially drew her to joining the company, and are all aspects that she plans to expand on and emphasize through her work.

A Knoxville, TN, native who transplanted to southeastern Kentucky in college, Sydney received a Bachelor of Science degree in Strategic Communication from the University of the Cumberlands. During that time, she served in multiple leadership positions with Undergraduate Admissions and Student Success, involving communications across campus. Holcombe is also a member of Leadership Kentucky’s BRIGHT Program 2022 Class. She has a passion for photography and storytelling inside and outside the workplace, and is “looking forward to using that experience as a tool to aid in telling the story of Lumber King and its fantastic community.”

We are so excited to have Sydney join the Lumber King family!

We were honored to put together this video for the University of the Cumberlands.

These students (and many others) went through so much in the last year. What a beautiful ceremony and day of celebration it was.

Congrats to all those who graduated! Now the work really begins. Go make a difference.

The Holler?

The Holler, a common slang term throughout Appalachia, typically has a negative connotation... associated with poverty, drugs, and uneducated individuals. Our business sets out to reimagine the term in everyone’s minds across the United States. We are a company that helps other businesses build out growth strategies through digital means to reach goals and revenue thresholds they’ve not been able to reach yet. We are a company that takes displaced workers and helps them birth their idea into a healthy business. We are a company that changes the way industries advertise, manage their brand, and engage with their community. We are a company that is going to change the game... where “the holler” is forever associated with HOPE and OPPORTUNITY for one of the greatest locations in the US... Appalachia.
