AI is the cheapest it will ever be. Not because the technology will get worse because right now, somebody else is paying for most of it.

OpenAI lost more than it earned in 2025. Its S-1 is filed. Anthropic’s draft is filed. Ride-share took ten years to reach that trigger. AI took four.

The counterargument is real: per-token prices are collapsing. But the unit price isn’t the bill. Autonomous agents burn tokens faster than prices fall, which is how the invoice climbs while the sticker drops.

None of this means don’t use it. The AI subsidy is the biggest transfer of capability to small businesses in the history of software, and sitting it out just hands the advantage to your competitors. It means use it the way a disciplined operator uses any promotional pricing: underwrite at the real price, keep your exits open, and own your data and processes.

Others look like nothing for 90 days, then carry your lead flow for years:

Neither is better. But if you judge a 6-month asset on a 2-week clock, you’ll kill everything that was about to work.
The average page ranking #1 on Google is five years old. Not because old pages win. Because winning takes accumulation: trust, links, proof, time in the market.
