Nancy Ruffcorn from Timothy Lutheran joins Council Bluffs Today to talk about the new community refrigerator project coming to Council Bluffs. The program is designed to rescue usable food from restaurants, caterers, grocery stores, gardens and local donors, then make it available 24/7 for neighbors facing food insecurity.

Nancy explains how the project came together with support and guidance from Iowa West Foundation, Saving Grace Food Rescue, Timothy Lutheran and other community partners. She also shares how volunteers will help pick up food, repackage donations when needed, monitor the refrigerators and make sure people have access to food in a simple, dignified and anonymous way.

The first community refrigerator will be located at Timothy Lutheran near 31st and West Broadway, with additional locations planned through All Care and the Lakin Campus.
