6/2: Rain granted some relief in parts of the West & Plains over the last two weeks, but Extreme to Exceptional (D3–D4) remains entrenched in these regions. Meanwhile, dry conditions rapidly expanded in the Upper Midwest & Great Lakes.

Drought is expected to persist across much of the West & Mid-Atlantic, and develop in the Midwest. Parts of the South & Southwest may see some relief as drought conditions improve or end.

⛈️🌧️A prolonged wet pattern will continue in much of the South and Southeast, with rainfall possibly exceeding 5 inches over the next 5 days. Scattered flash flooding is possible, especially in urban areas and areas with saturated soils. Stay weather-aware and plan ahead!

Conditions worsened in parts of the Midwest this week, with small areas of improvement in Illinois and Iowa. The rest of the Lower 48 saw a mix of improvement and degradation to dryness and drought.

Puerto Rico saw degradation this week, while Hawaii and Alaska saw a few areas of improvement.
