This weekend we have the opportunity to honor a true legend in the racing community and a man who meant a great deal to me.

I was lucky enough to grow up around Smiley while traveling with the Sprint Series of Texas. Smiley was an incredible man and a true pioneer in the racing world. It’s a privilege to have known him and to be able to call him family.

I was recently given the opportunity to design a hero card for Carson Bolden Racing!

So naturally, I had to snag one while we are at Eagle Raceway this weekend to watch the IMCA Racesaver Nationals. Good luck to all of our local DFW drivers as they compete this weekend!

If anyone needs hero cards, shoot me a message and let’s get something in the works!

As a motorsports photographer, it’s easy to get caught up in chasing the action.

The cars. The slide jobs. The checkered flags.

But sometimes, I have to remind myself to turn around. Because so much of what makes racing, racing, happens right here in the pits.

It’s in the work nobody sees from the grandstands. The conversations between races when you missed your set up or when you finally figured out your car. The family and friends gathered around the trailer. The butterflies you get when you’re in the staging lane and the white flag drops on the race before yours. The kids growing up at the track. The hands that jump in when you come in on the wrecker. The wins celebrated together and the bad nights when you aren’t even sure how the car is supposed to fit back in the trailer.

There’s a whole life that exists on the other side of the catch fence.
