It can be tempting for business owners to want to run an ad campaign for a short period of time and want a huge return at the end of that period...but an effective ad campaign should be measured based on the business as a whole (comparing this month's sales to last month's sales, for example), and not based on smaller sales goals.

πŸ“ˆ Running digital ads are similar to investing in the stock market: prices for ads can go up or down based on a variety of factors, such as the number of people on that platform that day, types of audiences being targeted, etc. It's always best to run ads for a longer time period (we usually recommend 1-3 months depending on what your business goals are) in order to be able to see how they perform and to truly be able to measure their effectiveness.

SEO & SEM. They're popular terms - but what do they mean, and how can it benefit your business?

🌟 Search Engine Optimization - optimizations made to your website in order for it to show up higher organically (not paid) in search results. Can be pretty complex - number of variables that go into how high you show in a search result.

🌟 Search Engine Marketing - Refers to paid search ads. These are the top results you see when searching with [Ad] next to them. Unless you have a ton of traffic coming to your website already, have had a website up and running for a while, and have had a high quality site with great content that is updated frequently, to make the biggest impact you'd probably want to invest in SEM vs SEO.

Running digital ads is very different from "boosting" your social media posts.

✨ "Boosting" a post encourages people to engage (like, comment, share) with that particular post. So if you're boosting a post with hopes to drive traffic to your website, increase in-store sales, gain more fans, grow your e-mail list, build awareness about your business with new people, etc., you probably won't achieve the desired outcome.

✨ Based on the objective of a particular campaign, Facebook will show that ad to people who are most likely to take that action. So if your goal is to attract new clients, for example, boosting that post won't be effective because Facebook/Instagram will be placing that boosted post in front of people with the objective of liking, commenting or sharing that post (instead of taking the action that you want them to take).
