FEW NEWSWORTHY HEALTH ISSUES:
1) The FDA warned that some MyBladder supplements -- a product that says it promotes normal bladder control -- are being recalled due to potential E. coli contamination.
2) Meanwhile, Republicans and Democrats in the Senate are reportedly trying to hash out a proposal to end the shutdown next week. (The Hill) (THANK GOD)
3) Sudan's paramilitary forces killed hundreds of people at a hospital, including patients, after they seized the provincial capital of North Darfur over the weekend, according to the U.N. (AP)
4) In other recall news, the FDA said that Pacific-branded parsley is being recalled for potential Salmonella contamination, and Hoque-branded Dry Ghoinnya Fish is being pulled from shelves over concerns about botulism poisoning.
5) When done properly, both cooking at home and dining at a restaurant can be safe. However, cooking at home offers greater control over ingredients and hygiene, which can minimize the risk of foodborne illnesses, while restaurants are subject to health inspections and regulations.
