Recently I was invited out to try Best D-mn Smoked Meats - B**M BBQ , a truck that I pass daily on my way home from work.
Let me break down what I was able to try and what I recommend!
First off I was handed some off menu burnt ends. Not only were these little morsels of brisket delicious but the salt and pepper bark really shone through. They were un-sauced and honestly I liked them like that! These should definitely be put on the menu as maybe a burnt end skewer option.
The next thing I tried was the brisket sandwich. The brisket was exactly how I like it. Smokey, tender with a little chew and a fat bark that hits your tongue with that strong peppery flavor. This sandwich was spectacular and quite honestly I wish I had gotten two.
The next item was The Melt. Smoked Pork, Pimento Cheese, Collard Greens and hot sauce on a grilled sourdough. If you go to this truck, this is the thing that you gotta try. The smokiness of the pork and the sharpness of the pimento cheese is such a delicious combination. Adding the slight bitterness from the greens rounds out the flavor profile into something I've never really tasted before. Delicious, unique and all around something I was not expecting.
Next up was the pork tacos. Again, the smoked pork is tender and delicious and definitely the star of the show on this one. I'm not a huge fan of corn tortillas, but aside from my personal opinions this option has all the makings of a great menu item. The cilantro salsa Verde adds a great brightness to the tacos as well.
There's also lots of sides to add to your main dish. Cabbage and Noodles, Vinegar Slaw, Potato Salad, Carolina Style Collard Greens and an off menu Orzo Salad. There is even fresh made Baklava available which was a surprise to me but ended up being one of the highlights. It's so buttery and flaky and it's something you absolutely must grab along with your meal.
To wrap things up, the brisket and the pulled pork pimento cheese melt from B**M had me feeling downright submissive to the smoker. That brisket didn’t just fall apart, it surrendered willingly, all tender and obedient under the slightest pressure of my teeth. And that pulled pork melt? Let’s just say it knew exactly how to take charge.. dripping with juicy, saucy and melty confidence. Together, they worked me over in the best possible way, leaving me happily defeated and already plotting my next visit. If this is the kind of discipline their pitmaster dishes out, I’ll gladly sign up for another round.
Thanks again to B**M for having me try their menu! Make sure you follow their socials and go see them as soon as possible.
