Superior Arbor Management has been getting a lot of calls this month about storm damage, so here's what we tell folks in Dawsonville when they ask what to look for.

Walk your property after the next big blow and look up. You want to spot the limbs that cracked but didn't fall. Those are the ones that come down three weeks later on a calm day, usually onto something expensive.

Other things worth a look: any tree leaning more than it did last year, soil lifting on one side of the trunk, and dead limbs hanging up in the canopy.

If something looks off, we'll come out and tell you straight whether it needs to come down or whether it's fine. Sometimes the answer is that it's fine.
