Your brand’s power isn’t in who you let in. It’s in who you refuse to let in, no matter what they pay.

Where is the urgency? Some folks let their job become their personality, only to be laid off.

Others just chalk it up to being ‘bad on camera’.

literally says nothing on videos and just exited his media company for $900M.

Whatever you’re deluding yourself into believing to not start something, stop.

You’ll suck in the beginning, but it’s just something you’ll have to get over.

Here waiting for when you break free…

Millennials were the story everyone chased. Gen X was the generation they skipped.

Now Gen X is inheriting $1.4 trillion per year while being in their peak earning years.

By 2035 they’ll have $23 trillion in spending power. That’s not interesting to retailers because it’s not sexy.

It’s not about experiences or status or Instagram. It’s about function, value, and solving real problems.

Gen X shops online. Gen X cares about sustainability. Gen X won’t overpay for a brand name.

The retailers and brands that built themselves around Millennial spending are about to discover the forgotten generation was never forgotten.

Just waiting for their moment.

Most athletes build consumer brands. built a seat at the table.

Endorsement deals have a ceiling. Equity doesn’t.

While other athletes dropped podcasts and apparel, Brady partnered with Consello Group and started advising Fortune 500 CEOs in closed rooms. Not because he won seven Super Bowls.

Because his leadership principles actually transfer. Championship discipline scales companies the same way it scales defenses.

His consumer brands weren’t the goal. They were proof he could execute. The track record that makes executives take you seriously when money’s on the table.

Most athletes get paid once. Brady’s building something that compounds.

You’re either building the thing that looks big or the thing that actually scales. For most entrepreneurs, those are two completely different strategies.

Your traditional advantages - budget, credentials, market position - aren’t enough anymore.

A competitor doesn’t need to out-spend you. They need to articulate what your customers are already frustrated about and package it authentically. When they do, they win the narrative. And narrative moves more votes than TV spots. is doing an incredible grassroots job of this right now in LA.

The vulnerability isn’t that you lack resources. It’s that you’re optimized to win arguments while they’re optimized to win in a media environment where authenticity spreads.

Your undecided market is waiting for permission to switch. Make sure they don’t find it elsewhere.

You’re competing on the wrong axis.

Drake stopped trying to be the biggest artist. Now he controls the system that decides who becomes big.

That’s worth more than any solo album.

Most players in your space fight to stay at the top. The smarter move: become the validator. Control the platform, the distribution, the co-sign. Let others compete for relevance. You compete for leverage.

That’s not aging out. That’s evolving the business model.

You don’t need a better product. You need a moat competitors can’t copy.

Most founders are trying to win on ex*****on. They’re faster, smarter, more hustle-y than everyone else. That works until it doesn’t.

The moment someone with more capital enters your space, ex*****on alone gets you crushed.

What you actually need is something they can’t replicate.

Could be your relationships in the market. Could be your unit economics. Could be your technical ability or your email list or your production skills.

Pick one. The one that’s hardest to copy. Build everything around it.

Stop trying to be good at everything. Be world-class at one thing competitors can’t touch.

That’s how you survive at scale.

Drunk Elephant invented clean beauty.

Now every brand at Sephora is clean. And Drunk Elephant is collapsing (65% sales drop in Q1 2025) 🥵

Of course category creation looks like genius until the category becomes more valuable than your brand.

That’s when you realize you didn’t own an asset.

You created a commodity.
