So...Twitter is no more?🤔 The rebranding of this iconic social platform has everyone talking, including us. Wondering what this means for you or your business's social strategy? There are a lot of questions floating around out there right now so let's do a quick breakdown of everything we know so far.
❎ Why is Twitter making the change to X?
When Elon Musk first started making a name for himself in the 90s he had an idea for his payments startup to be called "X" and it would flow into a larger concept with some of his other ideas. This obviously did not happen at the time but since his acquisition of Twitter last year this idea has reawakened. Musk claims that Twitter, with its huge user base, is an ‘accelerant to X’.
❎ How is the app going to change?
As of right now, the main priority seems to be updating the branding and changing all of the bird icons to the new signature X logo. The entire re-branding is definitely going to take some time as we all know people can be uncomfortable with change and tend to dislike what they don't know but Musk seems intent on steaming ahead and continuing with his approach of a full rebrand. Be aware this will also include switching the app to black as the default color base, as opposed to the well-known Twitter blue.
❎ Are they still called tweets if it's not Twitter?
According to Elon Musk, tweets should now be referred to as x’s. 🙃
We're still unsure if this change in lingo will also apply to re-tweets or any other verbiage that tends to be associated with Twitter but we'll keep you posted.
We hope this helps anyone who is just straight-up confused by what's happening in the Twitter-verse and make sure to give this a like and follow as we'll be taking a deep dive into the changes that have been happening across the social media world over the next couple of weeks!
