The creative world lost one of its greats today. No one has crossed so many lines, checked so many boxes, met so many challenges, and overcome so many obstacles with as much laughter and charm as Dolly. She achieved “one-name” fame at the highest level, made friends everywhere she went, and was a brilliant light and a down-to-earth force for good in an industry sometimes consumed by ego, artifice, and exploitation.
To say she was a prolific writer, genius composer and creative innovator is an understatement. Her music crossed genres and generations. Her talents were not limited to music; but extended to the stage, the boardroom, and enterprise with equal ease.
I’m certain she faced many tough times and difficult circumstances in her lifetime, but she never appeared to spend a single minute without a smile on her face and a song in her heart. A consummate pro, and a glitzy, glamorous bombshell whose radiant presence and hillbilly-humble heart will inspire new generations of creators and always make the world a better place.
