🎙️ New Episode: Deconstructing Dallas

Shawn and Ryan go on-site at the George W. Bush Institute for a powerful conversation with one of North Texas’ most respected economic minds — Dr. Cullum Clark, Director of the Bush Institute, SMU Economic Growth Initiative, and adjunct economics professor at SMU.
Dr. Clark shares his unconventional journey from a successful career in investment management to earning his Ph.D. in economics at age 50, and how that path shaped his focus on urban and regional growth, public policy, and the future of Dallas–Fort Worth.

📈 He breaks down the real formula behind DFW’s rise — affordability, business climate, innovation, immigration, and human capital — and explains what challenges like housing costs, workforce education, and infrastructure mean for sustaining that momentum.
Plus:

➡️ Behind-the-scenes stories about President George W. Bush

➡️ Favorite Dallas eats (yes, soup dumplings 🥟)

➡️ Leadership lessons for entrepreneurs and changemakers navigating today’s economy

Congratulations to our client Resource Center as they celebrated the official grand opening of Oak Lawn Place this week.

Oak Lawn Place is an affordable senior housing development that is LGBTQIA+ affirming. The first of its kind in North Texas. And what does that mean? It is open to anyone who qualifies, while also supporting the LGBTQIA+ seniors.

The creation of an affirming and inclusive housing option for LGBTQ seniors in North Texas is a critical component of Resource Center’s vision for an equitable society in which all community members are afforded the opportunity to thrive without bias or barriers based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, or HIV status. By recognizing and addressing their unique needs, Oak Lawn Place empowers individuals to age with dignity, foster a sense of belonging, and preserve their invaluable contributions to society. The goal of the project is to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, have access to safe and supportive housing as they embark on their golden years.

The development has 79 one-bedroom units and 5 two-bedroom units in a new five-story building with a large outdoor terrace that overlooks a creek and, from the upper levels, allows for dynamic views of downtown Dallas. Amenities include a lobby, community room, conference/dining room, kitchen, fitness room, and a business center.

The project broke ground last year and completed its construction in July of 2024. Residents started to move into this accommodating facility in mid-July.

Allyn Media client Walmart was just on Fox 4 News!

Lancaster’s new, high-tech Walmart distribution center is up and running and is a hub of economic opportunity. Walmart technology - and investment in local jobs - is leading the way!

The new top-of-the-line facility in Lancaster, TX is bringing sustainable jobs to North Texas . . . "Here, working alongside the automation, the associates are working more from the neck up, driving flow, fixing faults, maintaining the equipment. They go home less physically tired," said general manager Ervin Goad.

"Supply chain makes the difference, and if we know anything else from this pandemic at the end of the day it's about supply chain," said John Wiley Price, a Dallas County Commissioner.

Walmart is now hiring a variety of tech-focused positions, including an automation equipment operator for the facility.

Allyn Media is proud to be serving Walmart for 25 years now, helping to tell the story of how the company creates careers - including where automation is changing things for the better.

Shout out to Ryan Trimble and Debra Meek for delivering outstanding results for our client!

PLUS! One of the incredible artists working on the mural, Mari Pohlman, was previously a guest on Allyn Media’s podcast, Deconstructing Dallas! Head to our link in bio to listen to the episode and to hear Shawn P Williams and Ryan Trimble speak with Marpohl Studio about her process and how a trip abroad changed her entire perspective.

WHAT IF WE ALL LIVED WITHIN A 10 MINUTE WALK OF A PARK?

Allyn Media client Trust for Public Land is working to make that happen across the United States by 2050. Read about Robert Kent, Trust for Public Land Associate Vice President, Texas State Director in The Lakewood - East Dallas Advocate and his work to ensure every Texan is able to experience the health, climate, equity, and community benefits of close-to-home access to parks and nature.

Trust for Public Land established a project called Smart Growth for Dallas, a data mapping platform that examines factors like urban heat islands, health disparities, equity indicators, soil types and flood zones to determine where parks are most needed and possible locations for said parks.

Five Mile Creek Greenbelt is a 17-mile trail aims to connect much of Oak Cliff and Southern Dallas along the already existing watershed.

“Oak Cliff has got the most pretty land in Dallas, and that’s because it is the northmost edge of the Balcones Escarpment (the eastern boundary of the Texas Hill Country that gives Oak Cliff its hills and cliff-like structures).”

ABOUT TRUST FOR PUBLIC LAND
We believe everyone should have access to the outdoors. We create parks and protect land for people, ensuring healthy, livable communities for generations to come.

Shout out to Ryan Trimble for leading great work for our client!
