I was speaking to a frustrated business owner recently that said, βI donβt understand. I post on Facebook EVERY day and I STILL donβt get new business.β I want to address this blazing phenomenon and would love your input. β£

As a new biz owner, simply posting on Facebook and IG will rarely ever be enough to grow a sustaining business. Can you reach new clients via social media? Of course. Businesses do it all the time. But, even then, there is a formal strategy in play that probably includes paid ads. β£

Sales is sales. In 1999 and 2019, itβs still sales. I asked my friend, βHow many outbound calls did you make today? How many potentials did you follow-up with and how? How many new potential clients did you add to your funnel today? Who progressed in your funnel? Who did you meet? What additional circles did you join? What is your content strategy? What are your conversion metrics? What value did you bring to your target audience? What was their feedback?β I asked knowing there would be a blank stare. ... βBut, I posted on Facebook.ββ£

As kindly as I can write this, STOP BEING LAZY. Invest in your brand. Get to know your audience. Bring REAL value. Engage with your followers. Present your service elegantly and professionally. Follow-up consistently and personally. Network daily. Champion your existing clients. Share reviews. Be interesting and unique. Be your CEO and manage your time in a way that produces. And, USE YOUR PHONE. That means, have REAL conversations. Actually dial a number. Return calls and emails promptly. Find out what their true needs are. Create a proposition that meets their need. Get a signed commitment, go to work, deliver an outstanding product, and ask for their referrals!β£

We are blessed in 2019 to have unlimited marketing resources. Try different things and measure everything. See what converts and invest more there. β£

Use social media for what it is...an ever-changing tool in a very large toolbox. β£

My two cents. Thoughts?
