The moment I wanted to give up.

Honest talk: Yesterday I saw a beauty brand post on Instagram that they were shutting their doors, because of how incredibly competitive the beauty space is, and how difficult it is now to acquire customers within the direct-to-consumer model.

This brand also looked like they had had a lot more support than l’ve had building my brand - more than 4x the amount of followers, plus polished content featuring a lot of influencers.
Quite honestly it made me think about if/when I might have to do the same one day, and it made me sad and a little scared.

This business is not an easy one in the least. In the past, celebrities would endorse beauty brands; now every celebrity has their own beauty brand. Beauty brands are more than a dime a dozen, maybe a dime a thousand these days.
I’m extremely grateful that l’ve built my brand this far, but it has been the hardest thing l’ve done in my life, and it never seems to get any easier. Very grateful also for the people who have stuck with my brand on Amazon over the years, while so many have left because there are so many options out there. It helped me be better, purchase my first home, help others start a beauty brand, and employ others with my beauty brand marketing agency, Grant and Labels.

DON’T GIVE UP! You didn’t come this far to just come this far and give up. Take a moment, a day or 2, get your sh*t together and be the bad ass that you are.

If you understand why people buy, you will never struggle to sell again.

Let me tell you something.
When I first started selling my beauty products, I thought it was all about pretty packaging and perfect photos.
I spent hours designing labels, taking pictures, and trying to make everything look “professional.”
But nothing was selling.

It wasn’t until I started studying people instead of packaging that everything changed.

I realized customers don’t buy because your product looks good.
They buy because it makes them feel something.
Safe. Confident. Seen. Beautiful.
That’s psychology. That’s marketing.
