The outfit you almost didn't wear is usually the right one.
Not because it photographs better. Because it's the one that feels most like you when no one is watching.
We see it happen before nearly every session. Someone stands in front of the mirror holding two options. One is safe, the one people expect. The other is a little more honest. A little closer to who they actually are right now, in this season, in this chapter.
The second one always wins on camera. Every time.
When we help someone prepare for a family portrait or a branding session, we don't hand them a checklist of colors to avoid. We ask a quieter question: what do you want your kids to recognize about you twenty years from now? What do you want a future client to feel the second they land on your website?
That's not styling. That's self-recognition. Photographs hold up over time when the person in them was telling the truth. The blouse your mom would pick isn't wrong, it's just not the story you're living right now.
So here's what we tell everyone. Pull both pieces off the hanger. Hold them up. Notice which one makes your shoulders drop.
Wear that one. 💛
