The Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum will open its newest exhibition, Black Cowboys: An American Story, this weekend. The exhibit goes beyond ranch work to explore the lives and labor of enslaved and free Black people who worked on Texas ranches and cattle drives, spanning the years before the Civil War through the turn of the 20th century.

The exhibit also includes a special section honoring the late Cleo Hearn, co-founder of the American Black Cowboy Association and Cowboys of Color Rodeo. The exhibit tells the story of the Lancaster legend known as Mr. Black Rodeo.

Earlier this month, Sadie Funk of The Best Place for Working Parents took the stage at HR Brew’s New York City event, joining leaders from Noom, Land O’Lakes and Klaviyo for a conversation on strategic benefits for employee wellbeing.

The conversation explored what it looks like to think about wellbeing holistically, from mental, financial and social health to remote work, time off and the life-stage and caregiving needs that shape employees’ experiences at work.

Sadie brought a data-driven perspective to the discussion, sharing what today’s workforce really looks like for working parents and caregivers, and why thoughtful support like flexibility and child care can be more than a benefit. It can be a business strategy.

There is nothing like hearing history from those who lived it.

NBC DFW's Noelle Walker NBC5, recently sat down with two Holocaust Survivors, Dr. Andras Lacko and Rosian Zerner, to hear their powerful stories. The piece highlighted the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum's Survivor Speaker Series, where Holocaust survivors continue to share their firsthand testimony with visitors, ensuring their firsthand accounts of history are carried forward by future generations.

As the number of living Holocaust survivors continues to decline, opportunities like these become even more meaningful. Their stories are powerful reminders of the consequences of hatred, the importance of remembrance, and our shared responsibility to stand against injustice.
