THE THRONE OF NEPHREN-KA is a Cthulhu Mythos novel, told by adventurers associated with Miskatonic University. Their brave experiences concern the wicked exploits on Earth of an ancient, shape-changing being known as Nyarlathotep.

Nyarlathotep has served the Outer Gods and the Great Old Ones, as well as his father, the demon-sultan Azathoth, for countless eons. His natural form is unlike that of any Earth being. In that form, it is more common for him to move by crawling, so he is known as the Crawling Chaos.

This novel chronicles the earthly activities of Nyarlathotep and other Lovecraftian creatures as global warming breaks down society. Antarctica and other frigid areas, including Mt. Everest, are slowly turning to slush. The McLaughlin/Sheehan story, THE DOOMSDAY THAW, is a chapter in this novel. Among the items found in Antarctica’s slushy ruins is a massive black marble pyramid, where Nyarlathotep’s avatar, Nephren-Ka, holds sway over the fate of the Earth.

THE THRONE OF NEPHREN-KA continues the tale begun in the McLaughlin/Sheehan novel, LABYRINTH OF THE CRAWLING CHAOS, and each is a stand-alone work. You can read them in any order you like.

Together, Mark McLaughlin and Michael Sheehan, Jr. have written many collections of dark fantasy/Cthulhu Mythos fiction, including HORRORS & ABOMINATIONS, NIGHTMARES & TENTACLES, THE WRATH OF NYARLATHOTEP, WEIRD WORSHIP, and more.

THE PRISONER OF CARCOSA presents tales of the bizarre, featuring Lovecraftian horrors, alien nightmares, oceanic monstrosities, an account of The King In Yellow, and much more. Many of these adventures have only been available so far on Kindle. This paperback collection is a companion volume to HORRORS & ABOMINATIONS, THE HOUSE OF THE OCELOT, and CITY OF LIVING SHADOWS.

In “The Prisoner Of Carcosa,” a traveler falls in love with one of the owners of the Golden Moon Bed & Breakfast. He doesn’t know that the owner’s family guards a copy of the accursed book, The King In Yellow, which brings madness to those who read it. He soon learns that when that evil book is near, a hideous creature known as the Seeker of the Yellow Sign isn’t far behind.

“Horrors Of The Trash Island” presents a Lovecraftian tale of ecological horror. Millionaire Asher Bellworth and his staff take a cruise on his yacht to check out an area in the South Pacific said to be the location of R'lyeh. R'lyeh is a legendary city on a sunken island where the evil entity Cthulhu is said to be trapped in a temple. They see a massive trash island floating over Cthulhu’s realm, and discover that the trash island is inhabited by a bizarre array of deadly mutations, as well as a bizarre human inhabitant.

“Yuletide Mementos: A Tale Of Lovecraftian Horror” is a sequel to Lovecraft’s "At the Mountains of Madness." The tale is set in the family home of Professor William Dyer, leader of an ill-fated Antarctic expedition conducted by Miskatonic University in 1930. When he returned, he brought back two trunks, which he stored in the attic. A young relative is now curious about those trunks, not realizing that they hold an ancient horror, waiting to be unleashed.

In “Diabolical Entities And How To Deal With Them,” Professor Artemis LaGungo provides an overview of the demonic denizens of Hell, and tells how to resist their unholy temptations.

“You Shall Have This Delicacy” tells of the world’s most powerful witch, who gathers her friends for a dinner party with a shocking agenda.

Set in the far future, “Tell Your Secrets To The Slime” follows a band of space explorers to a polluted planet populated by a grotesque life-form that feeds on guilt and sorrow. Will they be able to escape the alien horror that threatens to destroy them?

Mark McLaughlin is the author of EMPRESS OF THE LIVING DEAD, BEST LITTLE WITCH-HOUSE IN ARKHAM and HIDEOUS FACES, BEAUTIFUL SKULLS, among other horror collections. With McLaughlin, Michael Sheehan, Jr. has co-authored the Lovecraftian paperbacks, HORRORS & ABOMINATIONS, THE HOUSE OF THE OCELOT, and CITY OF LIVING SHADOWS, as well as many Kindle collections.

WEIRD WORSHIP presents 14 tales and a poem about two strange deities who are part of the Cthulhu Mythos -- the insect-god Ghattambah, and the King in Yellow.

Ghattambah was created by writer Mark McLaughlin, who also writes stories about the creature with his collaborator, Michael Sheehan, Jr. The King in Yellow first appeared in the Robert W. Chambers book of the same name in 1895. The royal terror has been a source of inspiration for many writers who embrace the Cthulhu Mythos.

You might ask, why are two completely different entities featured in the same book? It’s because they are so different: The King in Yellow is like an entity based in a realm of evil prose and poetry, while Ghattambah and his insect swarms exist only to eat, reproduce, and dominate. One entity is like wicked thought brought to life, while the other is all base appetites and survival instincts.

“Part 1: The Way Of The Swarm” features the following tales about the insect-god Ghattambah: “Der Fleischbrunnen,” “The Spawn Of Ghattambah,” “The Hungry One Must Feed,” “In The Chapel Of Ghattambah,” “Cleaning Frenzy,” “Pyramid Of The Shoggoths,” “The Horror In The Water Tower,” and “Shoggoth Apocalypse.”

“Part 2: The Gateway To Carcosa” features these tales of The King In Yellow: “To Reach Carcosa” (poem), “The Gateway To Carcosa,” “Glove,” “Casino Carcosa,” “The Prisoner Of Carcosa,” “The Black-and-White House,” and “Sea-Green Gown With Gold Buttons.”

THE UNDEAD OF THE HIMALAYAS is a Cthulhu Mythos tale, told through entries in the journal of Caleb Whateley. Caleb is a distant relative of a rural scholar named Wilbur Whateley.

Because of his special talents, Caleb is recruited to join a trip to Mt. Everest. Over the years, more than 340 people have died trying to climb Mount Everest. People have died there for many reasons, including earthquakes, avalanches, falls, altitude sickness, and glacier collapse. But on this trip, some participants will die for new and incredibly bizarre reasons.

Meanwhile, global warming is making Antarctica and other frigid areas, including Mt. Everest, slowly unfreeze. Among the items found in the mountain’s slush is the thawing, awakening cadaver of a traveler who will not allow his agenda to fail….

This story takes place in the same Lovecraftian future as the McLaughlin/Sheehan story, THE DOOMSDAY THAW, but each can be understood and enjoyed as a unique story.
