I don’t do alterations. Never have, never will. With that said, I ask that you be kind to the person doing them for you. Also, this is a skill like a plumber or electrician, not just a fun hobby. They should always be paid for their time, expertise, tools and materials. If you aren't willing to do that then alter or repair the item yourself.
