Today, we recognize the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

This year’s theme — fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress — highlights a simple truth: we cannot move forward as a society unless persons with disabilities are fully included in shaping our future.

At Concepts, our work in the disability and employment space focuses on expanding access to technology, elevating lived experience, and ensuring tools are designed with persons with disabilities in mind.

We’re committed to continuing this work every day.

In honor of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day on November 19, we asked our Founder and President, Karen Herson, what inspired her to start Concepts, which was established in 1996.

“Interestingly, I actually didn’t plan on being an entrepreneur. I just knew I wanted to make a difference, and I knew I wanted to take responsibility for my own path in life. In time, I realized starting my own business maximized opportunities for that, while also allowing me to create opportunities for others. That has actually been the most rewarding aspect of entrepreneurship—building a team and watching staff grow and succeed.”

Concepts Communications is excited to announce that Karen Herson, our President and CEO, has joined Impact 100 Palm Beach County. Impact100pbc.org connects and engages women to improve the Palm Beach County community by providing grants to local nonprofit organizations that implement high impact initiatives to improve the community.

Over the last 14 years, the women members of Impact 100 PBC have invested $7.7 million in southern Palm Beach County through 124 grants which include 73  $100,000 high-impact grants and 51 merit grants, each of which has made lasting, tangible change in our community. Karen Vaughn was recently recognized by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve as a Patriotic Employer. She received the award from Jennifer Hunt, content manager at Concepts, Inc., who nominated Karen for contributing national secruity, protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America's National Guard and Reserve Force.
