Today, people are wearing too much green and grabbing pints with no concept of the catalyst who changed a nation—and the 🔥 that started it all.
DID YOU KNOW??: St. Patrick, was British and kidnapped/enslaved by the Irish as a teen. Through Divine Calls, he gained freedom, later returned to Ireland, and the conduit of transformation for a nation.
THE STORY: Patrick returned to Ireland with little support, on a night the whole island out their fires for a pagan ceremony.
Seeing the opportunity to shine bright in the darkness, Patrick lit a bonfire on the hill of Slane, celebrating Jesus’ triumph over spiritual darkness.
Of course, this bold act caught the attention of the local chief and druid priests. Though it almost cost him his life, this fire set the stage for a movement that would change Ireland and the world.
Figuratively speaking, the fire is still lit.
APPLICATION: Don’t be afraid to stand out, especially if you have something people need. Sure, lighting a fire on a hill when all is dark is risky. But you won’t be noticed wearing green along with everyone else...
If you have a fire—and it benefits others—don’t let fear keep you from shining bright on a hill.
