As our organization has matured and our influence expanded, the need for a brand that more accurately reflects our distinct character became clear.

Our original name, Kokopelli, drew inspiration from the revered Native American deity. It was a fitting representation in our early days. However, its widespread adoption among numerous businesses and organizations, combined with its deep cultural roots, led us to reconsider our brand identity. The reality is, the Kokopelli name had become, and should always be, a shared entity.

Avalore emerged from our quest for uniqueness.

The name, with its lyrical sound and the root "lore," reflects our dedication to weaving the stories of organizations into compelling narratives. This name marks a new era of growth and creativity for us, and we invite you to join us on this exciting journey.

Today we celebrate Sue Kuligowski's 3rd anniversary with us! Originally brought on as a proposal writer, Sue now writes for us in all capacities and we are so grateful to have her on the team!

Sue was our first employee we hired at Kokopelli. It was a big leap for us at the time, and it's been a whirlwind ever since! There's a lot to look back on in the the three years since Sue has been with us and how much we've evolved. Thank you Sue for joining us at Kokopelli and bringing your wisdom all the way from Buffalo, New York!

Our crew is taking a break from Texas and have hit the roads in Montana!

They're traversing Big Sky Country for two weeks, meeting with local farmers and ranchers who are implementing impactful conservation measures on the land they work.

We get to interview them, film their work, and tell their stories.

Like so many of us, we are heartbroken by the act of racially motivated violence that happened at a supermarket Saturday in Buffalo, NY. Thirteen people between the ages of 20 to 86 were shot with 10 losing their lives too soon.

Our thoughts are with the victims and their families and friends as well as the community and all impacted by this tragic incident.

Change starts with all of us, so we donated $500 towards Facing History, a charity dedicated to reducing bigotry and hatred. If you are interested in donating as well, please visit their website. https://www.facinghistory.org/why-facing-history

The Kokopelli Team is filming the story of High Plains Food Bank today.

In 2021, High Plains Food Bank provided 3 million pounds of produce for the communities in Texas. They also have a food truck that goes out 3 times a week serving approximately 100 families and providing over 750 pounds of food throughout the community.

The Garden program provides some amazing educational opportunities for the community to come learn about Urban Agriculture!
