Scare yourself. I dare ya.

When I was invited by CreativeMornings/Denver to be their speaker for May's talk around the theme 'Vibrant,' I was equal parts honored and nervous as hell. Sure, I have done many talks, but 1) I was a bit rusty post-pandemic, and 2) this one was personal and came during a time of my life that was very transformative, aka I have some new skin to shed and show.

Thank you to those who have continued to support this wild ride that is my life and creative career. You're the real MVPs.

Normally this time I year I take a solid week to do some reflection "homework" that my goldfish of a buddy shared with me years ago. In the past I have used this time to post logos I completed over the year and it made me quickly realize that I've completed more content creation, brand consultations, and campaigns for companies that I can't even share on here in 2021. And damn does it feel gooooood.

I can't lie that this year had some low lows, but the highs...well, they have led me to a great place as I'm growing with my business. The relationships I have nurtured for years have started to align in ways I couldn't imagine (cue the BFF bracelets). 2022 has a lot more content creation and mental health work in the books and needless to say I am pa rumpa pum pum PUMPED!

I recently heard a quote that said, "things don't need to be difficult or intense in order for them to matter." This one hit me right in the entrepreneur feels. For a good chunk of my career I thought that if I wasn't working on weekends, feeling exhausted, or getting well known clients that I wasn't success. The digital space feels so fleeting and I've noticed my successes as a business owner have felt that way as well. But I have very intentionally tried to notice and celebrate the wins, no matter the size.

But that's a rant for 2022 😉I'm not sure what I'll be posting on here or how often in the new year, but I know I'll have the right people with me as I go.

Hands down one of my favorite projects I got to work on last year. When Alexandra Jordan Rembac approached me about a big idea she had, I knew I had to buckle up because she wasn't f*cking around. Cue Revv, a drive in movie experience coming to Los Angeles.

The vision in building this brand had ALOT of moving pieces. I wanted to combine classy with modern technology. Have new and old Hollywood meet while developing an inviting space that both corporate and locals could enjoy. We had a regal 'R' to represent the name without being too in line with its competition. Linework was established to mimic that of the car headlights and stage lights. My combo of wit and coffee intake also landed us on the tagline that perfectly encapsulates their mission -- "Driven by Experience."

I can't wait to see this baby come to life and allow its viewers to make some damn memories they'll never forget!

This is what we call...creating for sh*ts n giggles.

Life has had some laughable moments for me lately (okay so for the past 5 months but who's counting?). From sudden loss of income, to health issues, to heartbreak, to card fraud, to a 30-life crisis, to radio-silent clients...nothing has gone as I had originally thought it would. But also along that way I have met amazing new people, reconnected with old friends, been challenged to sit with my thoughts and reflect on what I really want, worked my way back into the Mental Health space, taken much needed time off, and straight up been forced to laugh some of it off and hope better things were on the way.

So as I figure my sh*t out, I'll play a little more.

"When you lose your laugh, you lose your footing."

This 12oz design baby was finally born June 25th after a few months of work and patience (aka me containing my excitement & not blabbing about it before launch). Always thrilled to work alongside my mental health buds over at Sip of Hope. 100% of their proceeds froom coffee sales support proactive su***de prevention and mental health education.

This lil bag started with a few potential directions when it came to that 70's vibe we were going for, but I had to throw in a lovey dovey VW van for the barcode. It's all in the details, baby!

Ever have one of those month's where technology doesn't want to work but you need it to work so you can finish your work in a normal timely manner while simultaneously working on accepting things are out of your control but your client's still want you to work regardless of the situation so you make a fun little typographic design to both act as an aid in getting out said frustration while also participating in the digital space as best you can at the moment and avoid imposter syndrome?
