This is the very first official ArmourSash award, and I can’t begin to express how meaningful this is.
This win is a direct result of collaboration with two incredibly talented people.
A little (way) backstory:
Polly Ayres, Owner and Publisher of Colorado Construction & Design® magazine, learned that I had a corporate goal of writing a marketing book. She encouraged me to start smaller, writing shorter publications that could eventually become the book. Easy, right? 😉
So, I began writing a Pathways article with CCD magazine…fast forward to today. I still write for CCD Magazine, but I’m now honored to be the Fractional CMO, and that book is well underway. Thank you, Polly 🫶
Understanding the value of advertising alongside editorial, I wanted to design an ArmourSash ad to complement my marketing publications. I shared my vision with my creative husband and asked if he’d help with a quick photoshoot at Fox Photo Studios.
👉 Here’s the thing about sharing an idea with another creative: you might inspire them to take it further than you ever imagined.
Before I knew it, I had a design in hand, and it was a little more, um, “cheeky” than I originally envisioned. But one of my guiding principles is to treat myself and my brand as I would any client. If my husband had created this same bold, spunky ad for someone else, I would have encouraged the approach without hesitation.
So we leaned in. Or, in this case, leaned out?
I added the “Beyond the Scroll” messaging and a few final touches (and thanks to Polly for the arrow adjustment—an extra set of eyes always helps 😉).
Together, we made this happen 🌟
I’m incredibly thankful to Colorado Construction & Design Magazine, Bold Brand LLC, and Fox Photo Studios for helping bring this vision to life, and for being part of ArmourSash’s first marketing award!
