Celebrating 20 Years of The Public Works⁠ - #4⁠

Our involvement in Red Bull Cold Rush for 2012 was a monumental feat that taped into all of our skill sets. We were involved in the planning of the on and off hill branding, course, venues and trophies. Much of the prilinamary building was done in our Denver fabrication shop and then 6000 pounds of materials were trucked to Silverton Mountain a couple weeks before the event.⁠

At that point we sent it up to the top of the mountain slung from a helicopter. Public Work's crew in partnership with Dale Wolmack, local workers, Red Bull, Pep Fujas and Silverton Mountain built some insane on mountain features for the all heli-accessed slopestyle.⁠

Public Works went back during the event and shot photos for Red Bull including getting to see the overall 3 men and woman receive custom TPW trophies that looked like old mining carts.

The early days we're scrappy, saying yes to any job and figuring the rest out as we went. With the help of good friends like and we managed to pay the bills and make some cool things along the way.⁠
The biggest milestone of this era was meeting during the "Knuckles" project for Echo Mountain. He would soon join the team and has been part of the journey ever since.

Twenty years ago today, The Public Works was co-founded by Mike Arzt and Frank Phillips, who were friends and colleagues from their time at Burton Snowboards. The idea for The Public Works was born from the synergy between Frank’s zeal for engineering and design with Mike’s enthusiasm for marketing and multimedia.⁠
