Most people aren’t unmotivated… they’re operating from things they’ve never been given the tools to understand.

I just completed my Trauma-Informed Care certification through Udemy, and honestly—it was eye-opening.

It helped me see how much our early experiences (especially before age 18) shape how we show up today. Things like burnout, overwhelm, or even “falling off track” aren’t always about discipline or willpower.

Sometimes, they’re connected to deeper experiences that were never fully seen or understood.

This hit home for me.

With an ACE score of 5, I started to recognize patterns in myself—like compassion fatigue—and realized that some of the things I’ve been hard on myself about weren’t a lack of effort… they were responses shaped by my experiences.

And that awareness is changing how I show up—not just in my life, but in how I support others.

In my work with Citrine Unlimited and coaching inside the Passion Over Perfection Collective, I’m being more intentional about:
✨ Creating space instead of pressure
✨ Recognizing when someone is overwhelmed vs. checked out
✨ Coming back to growth when someone is ready—not forcing it

I’m not a therapist, and I don’t treat trauma—but I do believe we all deserve to be supported in a way that actually sees us as whole people.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re “falling behind” or struggling to keep up, you’re not broken. You might just need a different kind of support.

And that’s exactly the kind of space we’re building inside Passion Over Perfection 💛

If you’re looking for community, growth, and real support—it’s there for you.

As 2025 comes to a close, I’m reflecting with gratitude and welcoming 2026 with clarity and intention.

This year was shaped by mentoring entrepreneurs, supporting equity-centered work, and helping small businesses navigate uncertainty—including supporting over 10 owners through Schedule C tax filings. I also began graduate school to continue strengthening my professional and business skills.

April marked a major transition. After navigating large-scale layoffs in my full-time role, I launched and led a small business support group—and Empowered Digisist was born. What started as a response to change has grown into a values-driven business focused on strategy, systems, and sustainability for entrepreneurs.

The year also included earning DBE certification, submitting my first RFP, engaging in policy and advocacy work, completing professional certifications, investing in my health, and deepening my commitment to balance and alignment.

As I step into 2026, I’m excited to continue building Empowered Digisist with purpose, equity, and community at the center.

Here’s to the next chapter. ✨

📚 Book Reflection: The Baddest Bitch in the Room

This book is an honest look at what it means to be a woman of color navigating an all-male industry and the personal cost that often comes with leveling up.

What stayed with me most wasn’t just the industry barriers, but the strain that growth can place on relationships. When women rise for themselves and their families, it can expose uncomfortable truths about who is willing to grow with you and who isn’t.

Takeaway:
Choosing yourself isn’t selfish. It’s honest. And sometimes, it’s necessary.

If you’ve ever been the only woman in the room or felt pressure to shrink your ambition, this book will resonate.

📚✨ Reading Goal Update #3

This week’s read: Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall ✊🏽💜

I chose this book because, honestly, I’ve never fully understood feminism. Every time I thought I did, I ended up feeling indifferent — like the words didn’t always align with the actions.

What I loved about this book is that it’s a collection of essays sharing real-world scenarios that finally helped me understand why I always had that off feeling about feminism.

Kendall asks the hard question:

“How can we stand in solidarity as a movement when there’s a distinct likelihood that some women are oppressing others?” 💭

This book called out so much of what I’ve felt for years — that if we truly want equality, we have to broaden the definition of feminism to include everyone’s realities.

💡 Real feminist issues are things like:
🍎 Food insecurity
🏫 Access to quality education
🏘️ Safe neighborhoods
💵 A living wage
🏥 Quality healthcare

This book grew me — and challenged me — in all the right ways. Everyone should read it. 🙌🏽💬

📚✨ Reading Goal Update #2

This week’s read: The Greatest You by Trent Shelton 💪🏽

I chose this book for two main reasons:
1️⃣ I’ve been a huge Trent fan for years — his honesty and motivation always hit home.
2️⃣ Since being downsized, my personal goal has been to heal from deep burnout and realign with what I call my “life’s work.” ❤️‍🔥

Hearing Trent read it himself made this one totally binge-worthy 🎧🙌

Key Takeaways:
🌱 Become everything you’re meant to be.
💡 Face the reality of your circumstances and find purpose through them.
💔 Break free from toxic environments and forgive those who’ve hurt you.
🛡️ Learn to guard your peace and protect your growth.

This one reminded me that sometimes setbacks are setups for realignment. 🙏

📚✨ Reading Goal Update #1

I set a goal to read more this year. It wasn’t a SMART goal—no timeline, no number of books—just a simple intention to read more and grow. To stay accountable, I’ll be posting every other Wednesday about the books I finish.

My first read? Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey—one of my favorite actors 🎬. I listened to the audiobook, and hearing him narrate it made it even more powerful.

💚 It’s part memoir, part love letter to life.
💡 It’s also a guide to recognizing your “greenlights”—and a reminder that even the yellows and reds eventually turn green.

My biggest takeaway: McConaughey has journaled for over 35 years 📝 and used those reflections to navigate his life’s journey. That hit home for me.

Here’s to catching more greenlights ahead. 🚦🌟
