Job Description
We are looking for qualified, experienced, Folder Operators (folder-stitcher) to join our team at Bindery 1, Inc. This position is critical to bindery operations and production of products finished in compliance with customer orders.
The Folder Operator set up and operates a variety of machines to automatically fold, slit, and score printed sheets and manufactured printed products such as advertising literature, forms, letters, brochures and pamphlets for binding and related finish operations. This includes ensuring finished product is consistent with order specifications as quickly, accurately, efficiently, and safely as possible. This position requires a high school diploma, demonstrated good basic math skills, ability to use a PC, and stable work history with prior related experience in bindery operations. Experience with paper cutter or similar precision cutting machines highly desired.
- Under direction of the Bindery Supervisor, set up and operate machinery to automatically fold, slit, and score paper sheets for binding and related finish operations at a prescribed rate and quantity, and per specified quality standards.
- Read work orders to determine setup specifications or insert sample sheet in machine and sets guides to edge of sheet.
- Adjust air blasts o feeder to regulate amount of air separating sheets of paper to provide continuous flow through machine.
- Adjust air blasts on feed to regulate amount of air separating sheets of paper to provide continuous flow through machine.
- Adjust conveyor blades or knurled rollers to feed sheet into folding rollers.
- Adjust folding rollers, side guides, and stops according to specified size and number of folds.
- Set slitting knives to slit sheets as specified.
- Stack sheets to be folded on automatic feed conveyor belt.
- Observe machine operation and adjust machines during production run as required; may operate two or more machines.
- Remove finished products from machines, jog, stack, band, and box folded sheets and forward through production line.
- Interact with Press, UV, Customer Service, Binning and Shipping team members to ensure completion of duties and fulfilling commitment that every product ships on time.
- Perform all tasks following COP's and instructions, and adhere to all safety rules without exception.
- Troubleshoot equipment, solve problems, and enhance the production process on an on-going basis.
- Recommend equipment, solve problems, and enhance the production process on an on-going basis.
- Maintain and clean work area and equipment.
- Follow established departmental policies, procedures, continuous quality improvement objectives, safety and environmental practices.
- May operate hand truck, paper jogger, dolly and/or pallet jack in loading and unloading.
****MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS BINDERY EXPERIENCE****
