A bunch of ideas in your head that you can’t make sense of. You know what you do and you know you’re good at it but turning that into content that actually says the right thing to the right people? That’s where it falls apart.

So you post something random. Or nothing at all.

That’s not a you problem. That’s what happens when marketing isn’t your lane.

This sounds simple.

And honestly it can be. If marketing is your job.

But when you’re running a business, serving clients, answering emails, following up on leads, sending invoices, and trying to have a life? Saying the same thing a different way every week is the last thing you want to figure out.

So you turn to AI. Which gives you ideas that sound cool until you realize you sound like everybody else…. so they sit in your notes app untouched.

Here’s the thing….Marketing IS repetition. Because Most people don’t buy the first time they hear about you. They buy after they’ve seen you enough times to feel like they know you, like you, and trust you.

Good marketers are skilled at finding new angles, new stories, and new ways to make a message land and it’s one less thing YOU have to do.

That’s what makes the difference.

If you look in a social media manager’s bag, you’ll probably find the same weird stuff.

Chargers.
Tripods.
Portable batteries.
A notebook full of ideas.

What you won’t see is the mental load we carry around.

The screenshots saved for later.
The post idea that hit at a red light.
The trend we’re waiting for the right client to use.
The caption we’ve been mentally editing for three days.
The 500 photos we’re trying to turn into five.

The funny thing is most people think social media is just posting.

By the time a post makes it to your feed, we’ve probably been thinking about it for weeks.

And honestly, that’s why so many business owners are tired.

Because they’re trying to do their actual job and this one too. 😭

Working on the weekend as usual. 😭

Meanwhile, the algorithm does not care that I made a pretty post.

It wants consistency.
It wants engagement.
It wants video.
It wants captions.
It wants trends.
It wants sacrifices and apparently my firstborn.

So here’s a screenshot of my camera roll.

I’m sure if you zoom in close enough there’s something in there that convinced somebody to buy something, inspired somebody to keep going, or gave at least fiftyleven reasons to hire a social media manager.

Anyway, if you’ve been ignoring your social media because you’re busy running your business, I get it.

The algorithm doesn’t care.

But your future customers might.

Yesterday was a good reminder that marketing works best when it doesn’t rely on just one thing.

Social media is still one of the most powerful tools businesses have for building visibility, community, and connection. But it’s also why I’m such a big believer in having an email list too.

When Instagram and Facebook started acting up yesterday, I was able to send a quick email to my clients and keep everybody in the loop.

Shoutout to because she actually built and manages my email marketing. I only do social media, and I know better than to try to do everything myself. 😂

That’s a lesson a lot of business owners learn the hard way. Even smart marketers have marketing help.

Social media and email aren’t competing strategies. They work best together.
