We’ve been seeing a lot more AI-generated 🤖 artwork come through the shop lately, and it’s creating some really interesting possibilities.
It’s also worth knowing that artwork that looks great on a phone 📱 or computer screen 💻 isn’t always ready to be professionally printed.
AI-generated images can sometimes have issues like:
- Low resolution
- Soft or distorted edges
- Misspelled or unusual text
- Small details that don’t reproduce well
- Artwork that can’t be enlarged without becoming blurry
- Colors or elements that need to be separated or rebuilt for production
That doesn’t mean the artwork is unusable. In many cases, it just needs a little preparation first.
Depending on the project, that may involve cleaning up the image, increasing the resolution, vectorizing the artwork, or recreating certain parts of the design.
The easiest way to think about it is this:
AI is often excellent at creating the concept. Professional artwork preparation is what helps turn that concept into something that can be produced well.
As AI tools continue to improve, we expect to see a lot more customers using them to develop ideas—and we think that’s a good thing.
Just remember: if you’re creating something with AI that you eventually want printed, keep the highest-resolution version you can and avoid repeatedly saving or screenshotting the image. The better the file we start with, the better the finished product can be.
