We loved welcoming three graphic design students from NICC, Lane Folstad, Kajiyah Williams, and Cece Trenkamp and their instructor, Carla Heathcote, into our shop for a behind-the-scenes plant tour this week. 🌱
There’s something special about watching ideas move from screen to paper — seeing how design, print, and finishing come together through real people and real processes. We had great conversations, shared how things are made, and loved the curiosity and questions they brought with them.

Thanks to NICC for spending time with us and for continuing to invest in the next generation of designers. We’re always honored to open our doors and show how connection, craft, and collaboration make it all real.

It was so fun to take a walk down memory lane in putting this video together. Especially when it’s your family’s history.

I can still remember walking through the older Central Ave building and seeing the linotype, hearing the presses and that creepy basement. Who knew it would be my future.

History matters. People matter. Community matters.

Dubuque has changed. We’ve changed right along with it.

And as we approach 100 years in business, I’m feeling incredibly grateful—for our history, our team, and all the people who’ve helped shape this place into what it is today.

Here’s to what’s next.

This week marks the two-year anniversary of the passing of Dave Welu - second generation owner of Welu Inc. We retired his "jersey" this week. He always wore a white lab coat to keep ink and dirt from his clothes. It came to represent the man he was and the hard-working principles he stood for. We still live by those principles with every client we serve and every deadline we meet.
